Want a new subtopic for Dreams and Visions?

If enough members of the Charismatic forum ask for this, I will make a subforum.

I have requested a new subtopic for Dreams and Visions, based on the huge interest in Humblebee's Lighthouse thread.

Erwin will consider it, if we have enough interest. If you would like a solid area to put discussions on dreams and visions (while keeping the original thread), then use this space to say it! I'll refer him back to this thread.

It could become a very exciting place to spread information and inklings, ask questions, and share interpretations.

Swifteagle is right. IMO, many threads disintegrate under the weight of a contentious spirit.

If a thread becomes a contentious debate, those who otherwise would share things both personal and precious, will be run off.

Maybe the OP can specifically exclude debate about dreams & visions, and thus preserve a lively and peacable sharing of dreams & visions.

Anyone wanting to debate the validity of dreams & disions in general or wanting to attack any poster's own dreams & visions could be directed to some other thread where the debators can have at it without destroying the thread in the process.

I, for one, have little to do with the forum anymore, because even though I'm willing to share my opinion with anyone who wants to hear it, I am not contentious -- nor is it the custom of Christians in general to be so. I am willing to extend honor to any who disagree with me, but I draw the line now at interacting with any who treat my opinions with disrespect.

James 3.13ff serves well as a forum motto:

13 ¶ Who is wise and instructed among you? Let him show his works in praiseworthy actions, with modest wisdom.
14 But if bitter envy be in you, or contention in your hearts, exalt not yourselves against the truth, and lie not.

Yeah, that kind of thing is bound to be a little distracting from the validity of the bible, which is God's primary way of speaking to us. Not that it isn't important, but some people can take it to the extreme by going overboard about dream analysis, stuff like that.

I would love to see dreams and visions used in their proper context and correct purpose.
God gives them... to say we should not listen is very close to saying we should not listen to Him.

Would also add that I would like to see that if a dream is submitted, all denominational biases of the "interpreter" should be put aside in the interpretation.

I would like a place to discuss dreams & visions...I have had lots of dreams, and one vision this past year...the Lord has given me dreams ever since I was a believer...but something happened to sort of derail my interest in them; a place for support and scriptural balance would be nice...dreams are not the exact word of God, but He does speak to us thru them at times.

My experience is that the more attention you pay to your spiritual gifts and abilities, the more they manifest and the better you get at using them correctly.
I recall recieving a dream in the middle of the night.. I woke up and knew immediately that it was from the Lord and that He meant if for me. I almost rolled over and went back to sleep when I "felt" the distinct impression that He was standing next to my bed tapping His foot and saying "Well, do you want continue with these things or not...?"
I immediately got my pad from the bedside table and jotted down the dream before going back to sleep.
My impression was that if we neglect them we may stop getting them.
What do you think?

i think dream and visions are cool..i think having a thread would help..i have alot..it is one of my gifts..it would encourage those who have similar gifts..God bless

I think we should be cautious about dreams cause some definitely ARE from God. But to be honest a lot of dreams are sort of irrelevant; pizza or hot dog dreams is what I've heard, esp bad dreams! Or sleeping in a room that is too warm. But if I have a dream once in awhile, if I wake up, I'll ask God if there is anything relevant about it. If so, I'll hear His feedback right away and get understanding about it.

i think it would be helpful to have such a subtopic! There are many ways to manifest the gifting of prophesy and one of them is thru dreams and visions. Certainly we've seen that God has worked thru these in the past in the same way that He works thru other giftings. So why not find a place where these can be discussed (not debated). I'm for it.

i agree..i know for sure some dreams are not from God..but we shouldnt neglect the gift..God speaks to us in many ways..and dream and visions is one of them..talking about them would be nice..since i dont see much people talking about them...most people i think are weary..yes we should test..but gifts are from God..God has talked to me personally in dreams and visions..i say discuss it with a grain of salt..in that be careful..but be open..i believe we should discuss them..God bless
