  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A fail safe is some thing that will prevent a process from catastrophically destroying its self.

I have listened to 10,000 of scientists, and 10,000 of biblical scholars. The scientists are very insistent that the world is billions of years old, and GOD is a spigette monster in the sky.
The scholars are split between agreeing with the secular science. The other half agree with Noah, Moses, and Jesus.
So here I sit outside the box, playing I 'll Fly away sweet Jesus. On piano.
As society fragments into the Red vs the Blue. The rights vs the left's. Boys vs the Trans. The courts vs the constitution.
I currently only know enouph astronomy to locate Polaris, Orions Belt, and navigate at night knowing the stars pivot clockwise when looking at the big dipper, about 4 fingers per hour at arms length.
Then a little about the new moon feast days.

Your fail safe example was incorrectly described.

I have listened to 10,000 of scientists, and 10,000 of biblical scholars. The scientists are very insistent that the world is billions of years old, and GOD is a spigette monster in the sky..
Y I was gently suggesting that you may not have understood what the scientists were saying. Asking questions, as you have been doing, is a good way of correcting that. I'd leave the speculation until you have a sounder grasp. (I've been studying science for more than half a century and I don't feel ready yet to speculate.)

My step Dad was a Geologist MS. I was taught all the basics of Science. Even the philosophical ideas. I belived chickens were the end results of 150,674,890, years of the sun drifting thru the cosmos at 60,000 mph.
The Pangea supercontinent was the 5th collision of the granite cartons drifting around the globe for 3.5 billion years, After forming from exploding star dust 20 billion years ago. Which all started from hydrogen atoms.
I only know magnetic particle theory. How to use quartz cyrstals to create sound waves to look at steel welds. How steel weld wire is vaporized and manipulated by electomagnetism in relation to geometric flux lines. How the circle of 5ths relates to the Key of C on wires of different diameters and tension.
Please call me out on any thing unbiblical
Genisis 7:11.

Yes, a very thoughtful theory. Hard to refute.
The principal difficulty in refuting it lies mainly in the inordinate amount of time it takes to stop laughing at it.

Are you a Christian, do you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross and is now alive.
If you do claim that Jesus is your lord and king. Amen
Maybe some of you old earth creationist, can be a bit more edifying. Did Jesus really turn water into wine?
Did he walk on water?
Did he flood the whole world?

After the fountains of the deep ruptured tons of mud ice, hail formed as water vapor condenses with dirt and ash, dry ice also , from co2 in the supercritical water . Covering large parts of land. Burying mammoths, and many "others" 71 geniuses*, Apparently the large cold blooded reptiles occupied other habitats. As the water levels rise this slightly negatively buoyant iceberg, drifts with the global river. It cracks and fractures as edges of glaciers do. The initial temperature is roughly -90 F , it freezes surface soils and surrounding water as it's temperature equalizes. As it melts many frozen animals are deposited randomly to land on top of previously deposited sedimentary layers. Some of the ice remains and migrates towards the northern hemisphere, were the water dynamics during the flood are calmer. West to east 50 mph water flow in the northern hemisphere. The Artic circle area would be a contained swirl pool , similar to the calm eye of a hurricane. As sediments layers heavier than the Ice mass build up it is deposited under it. Creating the north slope oil fields, Klondike gold dust deposites along with the unconsolidated deposits. As the waters recede this Ice containing mammoths, sloths, horses. cats, and a limited number of reptiles become caped with new snow as the warm equatorial waters produce heavy snow fall during the Ice age.

371 days after the flood started, the core of the original Ice is beached in Siberia and Alaska. The bottom of the ice, spent most of the flood insulated from the 36 degree Artic sea, sitting on top of sedimentary deposits. The edges taper out, releasing frozen animals at different time intervals. The ice age ends about 700 years after the flood. Many parts of the original Ice, are broken off and integrate with glacial ice flows. Depositing mammoths farther south from the main group.

I see mammoths and mastodons, like line bred horses. Draft horse , Belgium vs a Shetland pony. Preflood people would have had the Intelligence and need for breeding trainable large animals for work. I understand that the flood waters created most of the land features, attributed to huge secular monster glaciers. The Iowa glacial till is small, compared to how vast the Canadian Shield is. The random midwestern boulders, were deposited on the Canadian Shield during the flood with thin silty sediments. The glaciers are only pushing loose sediments. Ice will crush into a slushie, adding lubrication to the ice drifting over granite bed rock. The Michigan basin just south of the great lakes, along with the Illinois Basin was not carved by glaciers, as it has similar sedimentary layers as the great plains. Rocky Mountain Madison Limestone is very deep in Nebraska but is a surface rock in Eastern Iowa. If the secular glacial model was accurate. A 2,,000 ft high rockymoraine should remain from South Dakota thur Ohio creating a river basin divide. Unfarmable, and rugged as Arizona. As it is a boat can travel up the Mississippi River and into the Great Lakes, thur small locks and dams. This original glacial formation is still evident in perma frost, as the frozen mammoths and unfossilized dinosaur* bones are unearthed. Back to the first day, of Noah's Flood Genisis Chapter 7:11. In the 600th year of Noah's life, in the second month, the 17th day of the month. On that very day all the fountains of the great deep BURST forth and the windows of heaven were opened.

I don't know if that was directed to me. It followed directly my earlier post, so I shall reply as though it was.

You can identify the religious adherence of members by looking at the details below their avatar. You will see that I describe myself as an agnostic. (For full disclosure I am atheistic in respect of the God of the Abrahamic religions.

Now, as to your questions: no, I am not a Christian though I attempt to follow aspects of one interpretation of the teachings of Christ, from an ethical standpoint.
Jesus may have died on the cross, but the evidence is inconclusive. He is not now alive and did not rise again. You did not direct the last three questions to me, as I am not a OEC, but my answer to each would be no.

Now a single question for you. Would you provide some evidence for any of the claims you make in the succeeding two or three posts? Without evidence they are merely statements of opinion and as such may be disregarded.

Jesus loves you.
The holy spirit is whispering to you.
I will pray for the eyes of your understanding to be opened.
Why are you here?
I courteously answered all of your previous questions. Would you now please return the courtesy by answering mine. I shall then readily answer your latest one. For your convenience, here it is again:

Well.
1.frozen Unfossilized mammoths which correlate to rock formed mammoth fossils .
2. No evidence of glacial scouring in Illinois Basin.
3. Thick solid pure, table salt in between oil bearing Permian vs cretaceous * layers in Louisiana.
4. Solid granite cartons still fractured after (billions of years and multiple collisions )

Than you for your reply. Let me deal with each item, one at a time, starting with the last one.

Why would you expect fractures in granite cratons (not cartons) to heal?
Why would you think such non-healing constitutes evidence for HPT?

Let's clear up those points before we move onto the others.

Now, to answer your question "Why are you here?"
Multiple reasons, in no particular order:
1. Forums provide a form of social interaction.
2. I think it essential to expose my self to multiple perspectives and world views.
3. The science sub-section of the forum is one of many online resources I use to further my interest in science.
4. I abhor ignorance concerning science in general and evolutionary theory in particular and seek to correct misunderstandings when it is in my competence to do so.
5. Addressing the aforementioned misunderstandings gives focus to my self education.
6. Creating posts provides useful practice in writing skills.

You have been on this Christian labeled forum since 2008. I am seeking like minded Christian to bounce ideas off of. There is nothing I can do except go in peace.
This is very disturbing too me as many immature chistians. Will be led away from Jesus Christ. By your actions.
I assumed most of the people on the HPT thread were probably Christian.

I assume the conversation will go no were productive. As the moderator will shut it down. As I waste my lunch break haggling with some one who denies God.

So, you are looking for a discussion with people who agree with your worldview. That's rather disappointing. Note that one of the reasons I gave for being on the forum was "to expose my self to multiple perspectives and world views". If you avoid such alternative views, you ignore the greater part of humanity. I ask you to reflect on whether that is wise.

There is nothing I can do except go in peace.
You could try engaging in a mature discussion with people who hold differing views in an effort to understand them and allow them to better understand you. Diversity is good when it enriches, not so much when it divides. Open discussion can reduce the risks.

This is very disturbing too me as many immature chistians. Will be led away from Jesus Christ. By your actions.
Many Christians would view HPT as a rather silly fiction. It represents the attempt to satisfy the literal interpretations of a small subset of Christianity. So, this is not a disagreement between atheists and Christians. This is a debate between sound science and fanciful speculation. I find it disturbing that you wish to fill the minds of immature Christians with such nonsense. Perhaps we could have a productive discussion on why we are each disturbed.

I assumed most of the people on the HPT thread were probably Christian.
Assumptions are often ill advised, as was the case here.

I assume the conversation will go no were productive. As the moderator will shut it down. As I waste my lunch break haggling with some one who denies God.
I am sorry you feel we are haggling. My observations have nothing to do with my belief or non-belief in God. They have to do with accurate observations and logical reasoning. Rather than viewing it as haggling you could reach out, as I am doing, and try to seek common ground and a better understanding of our differences.

I am here. I look forward to your reply.

Hi Mark

I don't know if you're aware but there is a Christian only sub forum for this type of topic, where you might feel more comfortable....

Creation & Theistic Evolution

I should mention though, not all the Christians there accept Creationist views.
