  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Really, so you think it is a skill set - those poor minorities don't have the skills to make a photo copy.

Let's test your theory.

You play the voter, and I'll play the poll worker.

You submit a photocopy, and we'll see if I accept or reject it.

I'm guessing your "vote" won't pass muster -- care to place a wager?

Don’t flame me by suggesting I’m racist. I never said anything about race. Anyone who doesn’t have a photo copier would have a poll tax placed on them by your plan.

I didn't flame you. nor say you were a racist. I pointed out how ridiculous your statement was.
Incredible that in 2022 a person would think the only way to get a photocopy of a voters registration is to go out and buy a photo copier

Link - proof?

Without that - it's just your opinion - as is mine.

"link - proof" of what, exactly?

Do you even realize what you just asked for?

You suggested I was by complaining about how I was insulting minorities by suggesting it was hard for them to get a photocopy. I never brought minorities into it. In fact, one of my biggest complaints about media of all stripes is how “poor” and “urban” often get used as short hand for “African American” or “minority” when the reality couldn’t be further from the truth. You fell right into the same mistake they do.

It wasn’t ridiculous. It is a barrier for a lot of Americans. While it is not an issue for me, I have had times in my life where getting a photocopy is not an easy, free task. I’m whiter than Beaver Cleaver so I know this isn’t an issue to minorities.

I have no clue what the point of the photocopy voter registration even is. You can check them at the request before they even get the ballot. If they aren’t registered they don’t get a ballot. Just putting another hoop for someone to jump through to vote is the only reason to make them include a photocopy which for a number of Americans is not free nor easy to do.

Yup I asked that you bring conjecture into real life applications

To do that, I'm going to require you to put in a little effort.

As I said, you play the voter, and I'll play the poll worker.

Send me your photocopy, and we'll see if I find a way to reject it.

(I got 20 bucks that says I can)

I will give you the same amount of effort you want minorities to give to vote.

You suggested I was by complaining about how I was insulting minorities by suggesting

I suggested that you were suggesting?

WOW

I cannot help your comprehension, only reply to what you have posted. The subject I have been discussing is mail in ballots - the argument has been that any requirements would effect minorities ability to vote. To which you have posted no less than three times

Anyone who doesn’t have a photo copier would have a poll tax placed on them by your plan.
Which is ludicrous at best. The direct connection with race is found in your reference to the poll tax, which was a racist law developed and passed by the Democratic Lawmakers of their day.

You were the one bringing race into this - not me. After you brought in race, since I am a minority - I expressed my feelings about the purveying POV you demonstrate.

As I previously started - numerically there are many more poor white citizens than minority ones, yet the issue presented from the left is always focused on minorities ability to vote. Why is that? Do you not care if the poor whites are incumbered in voting? Do their votes not matter as much as minority?

I can’t help it if you don’t understand that when I am talking about people not being able to afford photocopies I’m talking about all people and not just minorities. I care about all poor people being able to vote since I am calling out a move you want to put in place that would cost money to vote. I was particularly pointing out the rural poor problem who rarely have a place to get photocopies within walking or public transportation distance from their home. Voter ID that cost money to get was shot down as a poll tax and requiring photocopies likely would be as well unless you have a way to make them free. Just because poll tax has been used to keep certain races from voting doesn’t mean those were the only targets.

I also don’t believe that minorities are the only people that the Right wants to stop from voting. You don’t have to spend much time in right wing echo chambers before people who don’t own land and women get brought up as additional groups who maybe shouldn’t vote. Your plan targets poor people, who often don’t own land. I’m not saying your intention is to require land ownership to vote but your plan can be used as a way to limit their number.

You said photo copiers - not photo copies.

There are countries in the world who are implementing Electronic( online ) voting and it is safe, and here in USA , apparently greatest country in the world still talking about “ if mail in vote safe” .

When the world moved to 21st century, we in America still want to go back to 19th century.
I hear the USA still has widespread use of cheques, and standing in line at banks to deposit them.
USA seems very backwards. Ohh and you guys still use the imperial system LOL.

Basing one's knowledge of the world on hearsay isn't a very good policy, but if that's necessary, the invective should be omitted. You know, because it makes the mistakes appear even more ridiculous.

I disclose that I'm not a USA person, and don't live in USA. I freely admit and distinguish "I hear" rather than pretend to "I know"

I'm sorry, what? Are you claiming that election officials are sending out copies of signatures with ballots so that people can copy them?
Not I, that was His Legacy's suggestion to make mail in ballots more efficient. They would include a copy of your registration to save time matching the signature when counted. This from a person who argues for more security. What?

I will give you the same amount of effort you want minorities to give to vote.

Who said anything about "minorities"? My little wager is with you.

I'm still betting you'll fail the test. Any takers?
