I voted but I wasn't at all thrilled with my options. My congressman and my state legislators are all entrenched liberal Democrats who can't lose in their districts. So, I voted Republican, but it was just as futile as voting my real preference, Libertarian, which wasn't on the ballot anyway.

Functionally, I'm a libertarian-leaning Independent. I'll go with whichever candidate is the closest to libertarian, preferably one who can actually be elected. But I won't ever vote for a Religious Right candidate again... if Republicans want to make me vote for a Democrat, nominate Santorum or someone like him; that's what it would take.

You are kind of like I am. I voted straight Republican on this ticket because there were too many far left Democrats running for office. I also will not vote for anyone who uses the Religious Right as their crutch.

I used to be a far right winger, but I have been moving closer to the center. To many people, I probably am still a conservative, but I use moderate or centrist compared to where I used to stand.

I'm an independent, but I usually side with the Republicans. I am a social conservative , but I support a socially liberal Democrat in the gubernatorial elections because I felt the Republican governor was not doing a good job. Also, the Democrat wanted to lower taxes on businesses, improve education, and fix family issues.

I have the feeling that almost every Republican voter would be torn when facing such a "one in a million" kind of Democrat opponent! ;)

Yeah, they would. I knew he was not going to win though as I live in s very conservative state.

My step-dad is an exception. He votes Republican no matter what

Economically I am far right but I believe in minimal regulations to prevent monopolies and corporations in politics and I hate the credit industry. Lately, I have been moving from the Austrian school towards Monetarism.

I am pretty conservative on immigration. I am not against immigrants, I just feel the government should do more to stop illegals.

Socially I am a conservative except I am for drugs and neutral on LGBT issues.

I support limited welfare and it should only be for the genuinely disadvantaged or those willing to work and looking for a job. I support equal opportunity but I oppose equal outcome.

I support public education since school vouchers will harm the education system and public schools will continue to be crap if the government gives out vouchers.

On foreign policy, I am undecided.

I consider myself a moderate conservative. The only thing that keeps me from supporting the Libertarians is their opposition to the death penalty, but I can live with their stance on LGBT issues.

DO the Libertarians have a stance on the death penalty? I don't recall any of the Libertarians I know or have read, etc. even mention this as issue, one way or the other.

As a matter of fact, I just took a look at the party platform and its "issues" section after reading your post here, and I can't find any mention of the death penalty. There's a statement or two about getting tough on crime, victims' rights, and making criminals pay for their crimes, but nothing about the death penalty.

I looked into it and I think you are right. I might have got their death penalty stance from a forum where a poster said the government should not be able to decide how long someone gets to live.

If I join the Libertarians, I would be a moderate member.
