At last about to challenge battles 98 through 100, the last three levels in the Palace of the Dead in Tactics Ogre. This is my first time through this optional event, so I don't know for sure what is coming at the last, 100th battle, but I venture that I shall meet with the heartless necromancer known as Nybeth, a war criminal I have encountered three times already in the story previously. I defeated him for the third time in battle on floor 5 of the Palace a few weeks ago, namely to avenge his young daughter Cressida who he once turned on and tried to murder when she questioned his heinous acts of raising the dead for his own selfish use (but I saved her in the nick of time, although Cressida could not find it in her heart to join my cause since I am still the one unfortunately responsible for killing her mother, sister, and her sister's betrothed in battle earlier in the story - *sigh* unfortunately war is hell), and also to put to rest two of my previous respected foes in the manner of honorable duel, Leonar and Xaebos, after Nybeth had raised them back up as the undead against me as well and yet this was clearly against their will. As Will Paven, a young man of ideals who is always reluctant to pick up the sword against others and tries to make peace so long as doing so does not severely violate my personal sense of honor and justice, I actually felt very sympathetic towards my former enemies Leonar and Xaebos for being manipulated into fighting against me as helpless conscripts rather than be allowed to rest, for though they'd been against me in the war throughout the story out of a sense of duty over personal ideals, I still respected them as human beings, and I was unnerved to see Nybeth perform more heinous acts like this, this barbaric practice of manipulating the dead even as they can only serve without mind or will of their own in wretched torment. So I fought against Nybeth again in this third battle more fiercely than ever before, but this time he turned into a great creature of darkness and death called a Lich (never really knew much about what a Lich is or does in the world of fantasy fiction, I must admit), and fled again, promising me that we'd meet again and settle the score soon. ... Thus I assume that Nybeth is waiting for me again on floor 100 of the Palace, more powerful than ever before and with a vengeful scorn for me having thwarted his evil deeds for so long like never before. But I, the brave knight Will Paven shall face him fearlessly, with the gracious help of my loyal comrades who, sharing my idealistic vision for a free and peaceful kingdom of Valeria, have faithfully ventured with me this far into the still darkness.

latest

Yeah, that's right, Nybeth. Tonight I am coming for you.

And if only Cressida - despite her gratitude for my saving her from her own father Nybeth when he turned on her - could have found it in her heart to forgive me for being unable to avoid fatal confrontation with her three loved ones in battle previously, and thus provide a valuable friend and ally to me.

I really find it hard to blame her for looking this forlorn all of the time.

.... Yes, as you can imagine, my IRL self really feels a connection to this character Will Paven ever since I began the game months ago, and with the other protagonists who fight with him. ^_^

I recall Hotel Mario being voted by ScrewAttack for worst game in the entire Mario franchise several years ago. ^_^

The Zelda games for the Philips CD-i are a masterpiece of awful. The cutscenes take the cake.

That's good, and I bet that afterwards you'll be so hungry you could eat an entire octorok.

Getting close to buying everything in the Jetpack Joyride shop.

The game is so addicting. My meter distance average is getting better and better too. I really do think its possible I could take the number 1 spot.

I don't have much patience for anything but an immersive open world. Skyrim, Fallout 3 and New Vegas (we don't talk about 4), and Red Dead Redemption are my favourites.

I'm looking forward to the rerelease of Skyrim on Friday. Too bad I'm out of town when it arrives!

My homeboy Lantis from the town where I did most of my growing up are going through Final Fantasy XV this weekend, getting our first-time impressions. I wish we'd held up a camera to record our blind commentary all this time; you probably would have been quite entertained by it. ^-^

Well, I can say this much; XV doesn't seem like classic Final Fantasy games of the old days, but nevertheless, unlike XIII, XV doesn't suck.

Me too on the game preference. and I think I have a problem with WOW because I feel restricted when fighting.

Playing Skyrim now and didn't know about the rerelease, so thanks.

That's right...I'm a gamer girl. Not a hardcore one, mind you...I play casually. But as the thread title implies, this thread is all about video games!

Do you play video games? What kind of games? Any specific genre you like?
What are you currently playing?

Any game system or platform applies: Xbox, Nintendo, Playstation, Sega, Atari, PC, and any other you can think of. :)

I'm partial to games with story and strategy, as well as an FPS element. For that reason, Deus Ex and Half-Life 2 hold a special place in my heart, along with Bioshock, the COD franchise, and Fallout. I like that they aren't just "here's a gun so shoot something," but many of them introduce a moral element. They make you ask why you're being told to fight, or--in the case of a few of those--it's more about solving a mystery or a puzzle.

I strongly dislike games that only give you the option of killing everything in sight with a weak storyline. That creates a kind of mass murderer mentality I don't like. No game I've played has done so well to make me stop and think as Deus Ex, the first in the franchise. It was the first game I played where literally only two characters have to die. The rest you can knock out or pass by with stealth.

I've currently been playing Metro 2033 Redux on Steam, and I'm impressed by how immersive it is and how they teach certain game mechanics - it's very intuitive.

I also enjoy building games, platformers, strategy games like Age of Empires, puzzle games like Portal 1 & 2 and various indie games.

Any room for a game developer in this forum? I only have a few out so far, but several more ideas! (I also plan on updating my current games!) http://golfballtacogames.com/examples.html if you would like to see.
Nice to meet a fellow developer

nice, a video game section. Haven't been able to play much lately, been trying to increase my time though, I need a break from life. I did manage to play the Legend of Korra for my lunch break today on my ps3, underrated game, but then again, I love the Avatar series.
