However, just for the record, as a non-Catholic, I question whether saints in heaven can hear our prayers. They would be in possession of Godlike powers if they could hear all prayers that go up to them at one time. "I" believe only God has that ability.

I know people that have the gift of Word of Knowledge, and have operated in the gift myself. So why would it be hard for someone who is in the presence of God, to recieve from Him knowledge of who needs their intercession, if it's possible for those on earth?

Many years ago, I used to even struggle with the ideal of why God, would even need any form of intercessory prayer, even from those of us still on this earth. The answer of course, was it's not that He needs it, but that He desires our intercessory prayer for others, and to build up the Body of Christ. From the beginning of creation, it's been His desire for humans to share in His creation, and to extend our love for Him, to others. For me that is the beauty of all Christians being united in the Body of Christ, for though we are many, united into one Body. Those that have experinced an earthly death, are still apart of that Body, and still are able to operate and function even more perfectly in the building up of the Body of Christ. Any way, that's the way I worked thru the understanding of the Communion of Saints, and it works for me.:)
