  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Actually, I can't remember the exact quote right now, but God wants the world to be vegan one day. I will try to find the quote later. God created us differently than animals. He gave us something that they don't have. Compassion, care, and sympathy towards other beings. We need to use this to our advantage. Also, even if the animal died of natural causes, it's not my body, it was the animals. Would you be okay with someone eating your body because you died of a natural cause? Most likely, no. Also, who's going to wait until the animal dies naturally? Very few people.

Isaiah 11:6-9 The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child shall lead them. 7 The cow and the bear shall graze; their young shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 The nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder's den. 9 They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

This says that during the Millennium there will no longer be any carnivores in the animal kingdom, but that is not the same as saying that we will all be vegetarians or vegans. We will all be Torah observant during the Millennium and animal sacrifices will have resumed (Ezekiel 44-46), which involves eating a portion, except for the burnt offering.

I would prefer if people didn't eat my body after I died, but if it was a choice between that and starving to death, then I would prefer that they live. I didn't ask you about how often an animal dies naturally, but about whether you think it would be appropriate to eat them in the case that they did.

Well, it would suggest that if the wolf doesn't eat the lamb, when it naturally would, I'd call that vegetarian, or vegan. "We will all be Torah observant during the Millennium" That's your belief, and I personally do not agree. You can't really act like it's a fact, when it's not. Regarding your other point, you asked if it was okay to eat meat that died a natural death. You didn't ask about whether someone was starving or not. There is no excuse for eating something that wanted to live, no matter their religion. Period.

The Bible talks about animal sacrifices, keeping the Sabbath, New Moon, Feasts, and dietary laws, so it is clear that people will be Torah observant during it. You don't have believe that it the Bible is factual in that there will be a Millennium, but it is factual that that's what it says about it.

You ask me me if I would mine if someone ate my body after I died and I replied that I wouldn't if it were a choice between them eating me or starving to death. You are correct that I didn't ask you about whether someone was starving or not, but you're still avoiding my question. If an animal were to die a natural death, do you think it would be appropriate to eat it?

That's fantastic, I hope you're happy in your lifestyle choice. As for me? Bring on the meat.
I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude. Why did you comment, if you're just going to say that? Anyways, I hope you read this forum. Being vegan can be beneficial to your health, kind to animals, and will help you stay skinny/fit. Thanks for your comment.

I believe that in the Bible, when animals were sacrificed, God didn't let them feel pain. (Then again, what do I know. I don't believe in the bible.) My main point here is that when YOU eat animals, they definitely did not die a natural death. Animals are killed when they are only halfway done living, on farms. This is inhumane and unfair. What gives you the right to eat meat again? What gives you the right to kill and ingest an innocent being? This is my main point. Regardless of what religion someone has, I believe that there is no excuse to take the life of someone else. I was not avoiding your question. If an animal died a natural death, I still wouldn't think it would be appropriate to eat a corpse. That's a little unnecessary, especially since you have an abundance of fruits, vegetables, grains, beans, etc. You don't need meat to survive. You are putting your health at unnecessary risks. Don't mean to be rude, but religion is keeping people back from veganism, which is the future. You use religion as an excuse. I don't mean to offend you, but that's what I noticed.

Don't be sorry, own it. Thank you for your comment.

Knowing what you know about the health effects and nutritional deficiencies of the vegan diet can I ask you a question? With a vegan diet you likely get enough ALA, but how do you supplement your diet to get missing EPA and DHA fatty acids?

Algae based supplements work well.

Vegans can get everything that meat eaters can, without a doubt. Personally, I like to drink hemp milk, which has an incredible amount of EPA and DHA fatty acids. Flax seeds, chia seeds, or the hemp seed are all really good. I use them in smoothies. I drink hemp milk by itself, with cereal, or in a smoothie. Canola oil also has it too. You can cook with canola oil.

Please check out this website, http://www.onegreenplanet.org/natur...th-the-highest-amount-of-omega-3-fatty-acids/. If you research more, you will find that every nutrient you get, I get too. Minus the cholesterol, excess protein, and not as much lipids. Thanks for responding to my thread!

I fully support your decision. I used to be vegan. I know eat meat and animal products that are humanely raised. I am 100% against factory farming.
If everyone ate humane raised meat, we would be overrun with small farms. So even humanely raised meat destroys the environment. Plus, like I said before, it's all a marketing strategy. @gerbilgirl

They made efforts to kill the animal in a way where it wouldn't suffer, and if it did suffer, then it wasn't considered an acceptable sacrifice. I believe that God has give man dominion over the earth and as give us certain animal to eat as food, so that grants me the right to do so. I'm not offended and I don't think you're being rude, I just don't see how you can ask what gives me the right to eat meat and then turn around and say that I'm using it as an excuse. However, on your view, why do I even need a right to kill and eat an animal? What is wrong with survival of the fittest? If an animal attacks someone and is no longer innocent, then is it still wrong to kill and eat it? Plants are alive, so what about killing them? Some plant neurobiologist think that plants are intelligent and respond to pain.

You are again avoiding my question by bring it outside parameters. If an animal has died and you have no responsibility in its death, then what is wrong with eating its corpse? Whether or not you have healthier alternatives means that it might be healthier to eat something else, but that doesn't mean that eating it is wrong. It is awfully arrogant to assume that your views are the future while the views of other people are holding them back.

Well, I disagree with your belief. God created this Earth, and he did not give it to us, we are simply living on it. Nobody owns the earth. We all share it together. Plants, animals, and us. (By the way, we are animals, if you didn't notice.) You don't have the right to eat meat, because your religion is your personal belief. Nobody on Earth said that you could eat this animal, and that animal certainly did not give you permission to eat it. We have something in common with all animals. We all want to live. I asked that because I couldn't understand how you could say something like that. You do not own anything on this earth. You do not own any beings, or animals. They are God's. Regarding plants, this is a common excuse that meat eaters give. Plants lack a central nervous system, thus, they physically cannot respond to pain. I answered your question, and I will answer it again. I do not think it's right, and don't tell me you do that, because you certainly don't wait for an animal to die. You buy it at supermarkets, that promote an industry where you eat animals who aren't even halfway through their lifespan. That's pretty hypocritical. Calling me arrogant will not prove your point. Veganism is the future, it's already been proven that meat causes cancer, from the World Health Organization. I'm trying to help you here, so that you won't have any diseases that you could've prevented. Thank you for responding, but I now realize that you will never change. You value tradition too much. All I can say is that I tried to help.

I'm in my 60's and have eaten meat and everything else (including junk) all my life and am still in good health, so on the health side it can't be doing me much harm.
Basically I eat whatever my stomach tells me it wants, so why should I overule it?
For example Jews won't eat pork, I wonder if that's why they're prone to inflammation of the gut because they're denying themselves a proper diet?

I am convinced that a high vegetable diet and low animal flesh diet is better for your health. However, I am also aware of the high soy content in so many vegetarian foods. Studies in Great Britain have shown soy to be high in plant estrogen which alters hormonal development of youth, emasculates men by shrinking their testicles and making them docile, and contributes to the rampant breast cancer abounding around the world.

It is true that God made plants to be the food for all animals and mankind, but after the Flood he gave permission to eat the animals (Gen. 9), most likely because there were no plants immediately after the Flood to eat. Of course once the taste of flesh has been discovered a propensity towards it was inevitable.

Creation scientists believe that the pre-flood world was very different from the post-flood world. For example, Pterodactyls can not fly in today's atmosphere. They are too large and heavy. They need double the atmospheric pressure to fly. It is believed by many Creation scientists that a canopy surrounded the Earth. Dr. Carl Baugh believes it was a crystaline ice canopy that slid down the magnetic poles dumping ice on the polar caps when the fountains of the deep erupted at the time of the flood.

My point is that new cosmic rays were now bombarding Noah and his descendants that animal protein in their diet offset its impact. Many creatures changed because of the post flood environment. So, while I agree that God intended man to eat plants in the beginning, things changed because of the Flood.

I would highly recommend reading the China Study, and looking at the facts of the World Health Organization. You will change your mind. Also, how do you know that you are in good health, and how do you know that it won't affect you later in life? You may be healthy now, but you could die of heart disease later, when the meat catches up to you. My grandmother is 87, and she got cancer, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol, all from meat, dairy, and eggs. I am not making this up, her doctor proved it. Of course she denied it, and continues to eat meat, but she will go down a horrible path later. Our country's number 1 cause of death is heart disease, and we happen to eat a ton of meat, being very obsessed with it. Coincidence? I think not. We also have the highest rate of osteoporosis in the world, caused by dairy, and we have the highest rate of dairy consumption in the world. Here is a free online pdf of the China Study. http://www.socakajak-klub.si/mma/The+China+Study.pdf/20111116065942/ I gave you the facts and proof, now it's time to make your choice. It's never too late to save yourself from deadly diseases, my mom just went vegan and she is 50 years old. Veganism has also been shown to even REVERSE heart disease and other things. (Shown in the China Study.)

So, while I agree that God intended man to eat plants in the beginning, things changed because of the Flood.

This "soy high estrogen" junk has already been proven to be a myth. The studies are very inaccurate, because they were feeding lab rats 6 times the amount that a normal vegan would ever eat. Also, take a look at the China Study, it shows that men in China who were eating high levels (pretty normal to a human) of soy had no problem, in fact they thrived better than most Americans do.

I believe that the reason we eat meat is because we are sinners. Adam and Eve were VEGANS before they sinned. After they sinned, the humans started to eat meat. Back then, humans ate meat to survive, but we live in a first world country, where we have an abundance of fruits, vegetables, etc. So there is no humane reason to eat another animal. It's not just a matter of God, it also affects the environment. Animal agriculture is the number 1 cause of depletion of water sources, pollution, and deforestation. This is a fact, don't believe me? Watch the documentary Cowspiracy on Netflix. Veganism is the way to the future of solving the world's problems. (Not everything of course, but tons of environmental and human problems) We could literally feed the entire starving human population with the amount of grains that America has alone, 65 times. We could literally solve world hunger, yet we feed these grains to animals, and that isn't even their natural diet. I would really recommend watching 101 reasons to go vegan, Cowspiracy, and reading the China Study. They changed my life!
