Hobbs said when Homeland Security identified media literacy as a “promising practice” for addressing the need for society to be resilient against propaganda, she noticed that government officials had read her book.

Homeland security should not be involved, monetarily or otherwise, in public education. That is not their job and not what they are supposed to be doing with the money they said they needed. The $700,000 could be spent to prevent terrorists and other criminals from entering and setting up shop in our country. The Biden administration had to back down on the their ministry of truth so they get their initiatives implemented through the back door. Teach the kids math and English.

Sounds promising.

Why not? Public education is a part of public safety.

Propaganda and information are proper functions of government.

Homeland Security has no business impeding in public education, nor does the Defense Department, nor the CIA. This is yet another misuse of taxpayer funds for political purposes. Propaganda may be the norms in North Korea, Iran, and China, but such government sponsored political propaganda is illegal in the United States. The hard left in the Biden administration continue to use taxpayer money to further their own political agenda, going after people who support Trump or MAGA or Christianity.

Government decides to do “something”; in an effort to be open, above-board and for the sake of transparency government decides to “educate the public” about this “something”…and this is “bad” somehow?
When will the complaints end, one wonders?

I agree with this as written, but I'm supposing you mean "implementing" not "impeding" - those are almost antonyms.

This is yet another misuse of taxpayer funds for political purposes.
Public safety - in this case, recognising propaganda for what it is - is a legitimate governmental function.

Propaganda may be the norms in North Korea, Iran, and China, but such government sponsored political propaganda is illegal in the United States.
People like you consider routine public safety announcements - e.g. "the IRS will not call you or email you to get your social security number. Beware of fraud!" - to be government sponsored propaganda? How about "buckle up" and "don't litter"?

The hard left in the Biden administration continue to use taxpayer money to further their own political agenda, going after people who support Trump or MAGA or Christianity.
Stuff and nonsense. Trump is being prosecuted for deeds he committed (defamation, sexual assault, fraud) and for crimes he may have committed (fomenting insurrection, more different fraud, espionage, theft of government property, etc.). Unfortunately, an awful lot of Trump supporters have committed crimes (see J6). In America, Christianity is the preferred religion - the vast majority of people in government are Christian.

Public education has a bearing on the security of our homeland. Arguing otherwise seems futile. And tribal. Some "terrorists" are citizens of America from the intelligence I've seen. Domestic terrorism is a real threat to America. Most of the violence being perpetrated is ethnically or racially motivated. 35%. With anti-government or anti-authority violence coming in second place.

Teaching only math and English is not keeping Americans safe apparently. It merely helps the terrorists recognize how much ammo they need. It is time for thinking outside the box if we aren't going to try to control who has access to the massive numbers of weapons in our country. Our minds are like parachutes. They cannot work properly unless they are opened. If we don't try many different measures, we will never discover solutions for our problems. This initiative will likely see demonstrative positive results...if we give it the chance.
