Upgrading...

I want to upgrade my board and chipset, and I've been debating between going with a core 2 quad or the new i7. I'm not sure which direction to go though. I know the cost will be significantly larger for the i7, but I've also heard that it blows the core 2 series away.

Suggestions?

If you have the money, I'd say the i7.

If you have the money, the Core i7 is a hefty CPU but, if you wait, you’ll see the price fall when more vendors come out with supporting hardware.

Yes, but when the i7 comes down in price, something will be taking it's place and we'll be talking about that model instead.

Right now I'm running an AMD 1.4ghz single core Athlon 64 in this computer. Was considering my options to what I could upgrade it to. Not sure still.
