  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

We are just a week away from Boris getting a mandate to end judicial oversight of govt?possibly... If you read the manifesto it's language indicates an intention to end judges challenging his ability to prorogue parliament.

Well according to the above poll you have nothing to worry about as the Conservatives are going to finish third behind Labour and the Lib Dems.

Maybe but not sure the judges action really helped Labour in this case and may have actually benefitted the Tories by giving the impression of Boris having to battle against the deep state to get the peoples "will" on BREXIT through.

I did not see the whole debate between Corbyn and Boris last night but what I saw did not change my impression of Corbyn as unfit to govern. Given that I do not want BREXIT the choice is a rubbish PM with all the wrong instincts with a possible reprieve on BREXIT or Boris and BREXIT. I voted Green today by post (cause they have a good remain policy and I like the environment) but I know that my vote is just a protest vote. Boris has this in the bag.

Corbyn is an atheist, a republican, a unilateralist who is a national security threat on so many levels it is not funny (including supporting the IRA!!!!) and it is clear that the man has no clue how to run the modern capitalist economy we need to fund first rate public services.

Boris Johnson hid in a fridge today. A fridge! To escape Good Morning Britain!

Can you imagine him having to stand up to Trump or Putin or China? He can't even stand up to morning television presenters and reporters.

At least Corbyn is willing to fight for what he believes in, having been arrested for protesting against South African apartheid in the past.

He didn't support the IRA. The right-wing press reported that he was arrested at a pro-IRA protest. It was actually a protest against the wrongful conviction of the Guildford Four and Birmingham Six; all of whom were exonerated and released.

Boris's aversion to public attention and fear of being caught off guard by reporters who are out to get him is probably a healthy instinct in a Primeminister. Even the BBC joined the smear campaign this time about that picture of the boy on the hospital floor.

But regarding Putin I do not trust Corbyn at all as a commander in chief. He has been a unilateralist most of his life and I am convinced he would never push the button so him being PM would neutralise our national deterrent against the more unscrupulous of leaders. Also his preference for terrorists over the British armed forces is quite well documented over the years and yes he was sympathetic to the IRA.

FactCheck: Corbyn on Northern Ireland

Regarding apartheid there was a time for it to end and it was only after the collapse of Communism that it became true Western policy to end apartheid. Communist protestors before the end of the Cold war were just a fifth column undermining our resolve against the greater threat of the evil empire.

Here’s hoping both Boris and Jeremy lose their seats tomorrow.

Tomorrow I am pretty sure Boris will win the election with a significant majority unless the polls are completely wrong (it has happened before). This is a tragedy cause it means BREXIT and this is not good for Britain. But Corbyn is the reason that Remainers have not been able to unite against BREXIT. I hope and pray that man goes after the election so that we can finally see an electable Labour leader as the leader of the opposition.

This is the first time I have not voted.

It wasn't a choice I made on a whim, I feel a strange feeling for not voting.

But I could not vote any of them out of moral conviction, I could not being myself to vote tactically nor to vote to stop whom I consider the "lesser evil".

I was left with the crippling choice I could not make, to get Brexit, I'd have to vote pro-austerity parties, I could not morally do this and to get an anti-austerity party means staying in Europe, that neo-Liberal Capitalist bloc, I could also not morally do this.

Power grows from the barrel of a gun.

The quote is "political power grows from the barrel of a gun"

I think political is an operative word here..

The quote might be that, but I'd say that any other kind of power does, too.

Except powerade, obviously. That grows from sewer pipes.

Nah.. the barrel of the gun only enforces the political, and there's all manner of power that can be had with no gun at all..

I'm a woman, I know these things.. haha

Exit poll gives the Tories an 86 seat majority. So goodbye welfare and the NHS say hello to mass poverty and suffering.
Look at the bright side, you won't drag the EU down with you.

It is looking like a massive Tory majority and clearly BREXIT and Corbyn are the main reasons for the scale of this.

I just hope Corbyn and his like will now step down and Labour will become a viable opposition again like they were under Blair.

Think a lot of people had to swallow a bitter pill before voting this time. I am a traditional Tory but voted Green this time round cause of BREXIT and because of Corbyn

Saw an article wondering whether this will prove a Pyrrhic victory for the Tories. With Brexit done, and hopefully a leader who does not appear to have Das Kapital as his bible, the next election might be different.

though with a media ever more Tory supporting, and how social media has been weaponised(on both sides) and Boris threatening the future of the BBC, and free reign to suppress voting, through ID cards and bureaucracy, and what awful plans he has for our constitution. I’m not betting on the next election.

If Brexit does not go through, you will find out just what it really means to be irretrievably tied to the EU. I do not claim to be an expert on British politics, but I do feel that the average Briton must be thinking of the immediate benefit (if things are so wonderful at present. Are they?) of remaining, while paying no mind to what will happen down the road when Britons will no longer have the option to say "no" to anything Germany wants.

The next 5 years are probably going to be very difficult. Scotland will be pushing for a new independence referendum. The Tories will have to struggle with the deep costs of BREXIT which they have grossly underestimated. Britain will pull through but by the time of the next election I have no idea what the political landscape will look like. Given the Tories are unlikely to grant a referendum for instance how will Scotland handle their frustrations with Westminister. Will the SRA replace the IRA?

I do not know if Labour can reform. The problem is the electoral system they have which favoured a really out of touch party membership who are far to the left of the general public. They might need to change the system before they can get an electable leader.

If the polls are right Britain is leaving on January 31st. The extent to which the deal Boris negotiated allows for a successful economy and trading relationship with Europe in the aftermath of BREXIT are key issues now. Also there is a lot of work to negotiate trade treaties with others like the Americans for instance.
