  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Typing is great, but there's something about seeing the work in the third dimension that makes it more real to the individual writing it. Print often, or use a typewriter. I just prefer to supersize my font, so it looks less like I'm typing on a computer program, and am more focused on the words. It also helps to reverse the colors -- make the font white, the background black, for instance. It helps with the mood.

I prefer to type. I often journal in longhand, but my journals don't last... I don't keep my journals because of a "prying eye" experience years ago. So I'd rather keep everything on my 'puter. Also, I type much faster than I write in longhand. I can't write as fast as I think.

Unfortunately, I only have a desktop 'puter, so I can't lug it along to Startbucks with me for a marathon/caffeine buzz writing session, or drag it to bed with me for a latenight writing session... I think I'm going to save up my candy money for a laptop (who cares if my car door falls off... the writing comes first!).

My first book I wrote by hand and then onto a typewriter--wow did that take forever. Then I wrote by hand (there was some kind of creative connection using pencil and paper) and then onto a computer. Now, I write (working on book 8) on the computer only and have lost the art of pencil paper. Really funny how that happened. Now if the computer is down, I can't write!

When I'm sitting outside enjoying the sun's rays gently warming my soul I use a pen and find my thoughts veer toward personal things so a pen and paper is good for that.
When I have a set story or subject I desire to write I find the computer is good for that.
Seems to add structure and planning to the exercise.
The best thing I have found to help me type is a program that emulates old style typing sounds.
This establishes a rhythm to my writing by giving a sensory feedback to my thoughts.

When I am outside, the natural sounds are my inspiration and sets the mood.

I touch-type which is good ... and bad. It means I type too quickly and sometimes allow the story to get carried away. I always use a computer because I really don't like hand-writing things, but it means I have to go back and edit a lot. Over and over. Which is good I guess because it gets a thorough clean-up.
