I don't know. Even when I thought I didn't see eye to eye with something in Catholicism, I never thought that Catholics weren't Christians....

I will be honest. I don't consider protestants to be saved, but I still love them. Unless they (protestants) are living in invincible ignorance, then I don't consider them to be saved. But I still love them as my neighbors.
My post and your reply to my post make me a hypocrite, but I don't know if you can connect the dots and understand what I'm really trying to say. It's similar to what you said though.

I understand what your saying. Only Jesus knows for sure, but my heart and conviction is telling me they are not saved, with the exception of invincible ignorance. But we still love the protestants.

It's ironic how we are supposed to practice what we preach, yet I smell animosity whenever I announce that I am a Catholic. What happened to love your neighbors?

It's not just Catholics though the evangelicals think everything is Catholic unless it is in their Bible and by their own ideas. I say I am a Traditional Christian and animosity pops up. I m get more and more agitated when I see them post their stuff.

I feel the same though I do distinguish between Protestants and evangelicals, whom I feel just like you that they may not be saved. I am no evangelical and if I start sounding like one shoot me. :) I am no Protestant either we do not ever disparage the Catholic Church and many times we will have luncheons and reflect on what the Popes and ECF say.

The catechisms says it is possible through invincible ignorance. But, ignorance is never bliss. I would not want to have to appear before Christ, and have to justify myself using invincible ignorance.

If you felt the need to justify yourself, you would not be invincibly ignorant.

I think once your standing before Christ, who will determine your destiny, and find out you were sitting on wrong side of the isle, at that point, anything will you say.

Spelling errors aside, I have no idea what this sentence means.

I agree though I would say most evangelical theology is garbage and throughout CF and other forums heresy abounds in spades
Except we DO share a considerable amount of theology.

A link? Absolutely. But Protestants claim the link is not in the bible. So I'm not sure what bible they are reading since my bible shows the link, loud and clear.
To be Protestant is to have to use a particular kind of blinders when reading the Bible.

The more I see the differences though, the less this seems to be the case :| Heck, they even disagree on the nature of Jesus' death for our sins (penal substitution). If P's and C's can't agree on that foundation, what gives?

Well, they do have valid baptisms. And very few Protestants actually rebelled from the Catholic Church but instead grew up in their Protestant communities, so they do not have the personal responsibility for schism.

Spelling errors aside, I have no idea what this sentence means.

It means if the judge finds you guilty, then whether you are catholic or protestant, you will only have 3 choices:

1. Admit guilt
2. Appeal the verdict
3. Plead ignorance

Probably not personal responsibility for schism, but personal responsibility for due diligence definitely.

They disagree on everything even on disagreeing

I actually had a private conversation on CF with a protestant. We ended up being farther apart on our opinions about the catholic doctrine as a result of the conversation. We couldn't even agree to disagree.
