well I tested today, just cause I am a POAS addict, and it was a faint positive, I am going to test again in the morning just to make sure. The last test I took from the box was on the 3rd and it was a BFN. As I am 5 days from the estimated time for AF to arrive, I thought what the heck lets give it a go. And it was faintly postive.

Ladies I am still shaking.

I was thinking this would take forever, cause it took my identical twin about 4 months to conceive her little one, due next month.

But it seems that it still rings true that if hubby even looks at me we get pregnant!!

First one was right off the B/C not even a month off, I stoped and boom I was preggers. Sadly that ended in m/c.

Two months after that a condom broke and boom preggers with Christian.

for those of you who don't have a high sex drive, how do you get yourself to "do it".. do you force yourself? do you use motivation from wanting to get pregnant.. how do you get there in your frame of mind?

I don't, we just have a nice dinner, flirt with each other, possibly a backrub or something, then he starts to get me in the mood.

For him, if I am in the mood and he isn't, I sometimes have to play dress up, and that gets him nearly every time.

I don't know what's normal - found out last week our second IUI didn't work - but we've been only technically trying 2 months - long story on how we got to just start trying with IUI. I just pray for God's will - the "be careful what you wish for" rings true in so much of my life, that I try to keep it in mind for this as well.

pegasus, do you think 4 months is a long time to get pregnant? what do you think the norm would be for the average woman?

I don't know what normal or average is for a woman TTC is, and no I don't think 4 months is very long. I was just using that as an example for how long I thought it might take me, as I have scar tissue from my C-section and normally it will take a woman who has had a C-section longer to conceive because of that. I guess that hubby and I are really fertile, hehe.

Yes ma'am I will.

You guys will be the first I tell after I tell Jay of course.

Our families we don't usually tell until after the first ultrasound, as we have been disappointed in the past by miscarriage.

oh and this morning I got another faint positive, may test again on Wednesday or Friday.

Hubby keeps telling that it is a fake positive, grr, the man urks me so much when we are pregnant.

The first time we got pregnant he fell to the floor, then wouldn't talk to me, like it was my fault.
Second baby he acted like he passed out, so I stepped over him and did laundry.
This one he went silent over the phone, then said "Oh sorry I just regained consciencesness(sp?)" I wanted to reach through the phone and strangle him.

He is great once the first ultrasound shows him that the baby has a heartbeat, but goodness, at least this one is planned.

*goes searching for info on the "normal" amount of time it should take for a healthy woman to get pg...okay, found some, have fun!

How long does it take to get pregnant?

Once you discontinue the use of birth control, and try to become pregnant:
25% in the first month60% in six months75% in nine months80% in twelve months90% in eighteen months
When it takes a year or longer of actively trying to conceive, it is generally recommended that you see your practitioner for advice. Infertility can be the reason you have not conceived. Approximately 30% of infertility is caused by male factors, 30% to female factors, and the rest is either a combination or the cause hasn't been found.
MORE:

If you are under 25 years old, you have a one in four or five chance of becoming pregnant. This means that it "normally" takes four to five months for conception to occur if you and your partner are in optimum health and are actively trying. With this in mind, you might want to mark your calendar when you begin trying and if pregnancy hasn't occurred within six months, you may want to inquire with your physician.
If you are between the ages of 35 and 40 you have a one in six to seven chances of becoming pregnant with the conception rate dropping with each year closer to age 40. It could take you up to seven months, barring you and your partner are in optimum health, to conceive. On the other hand, you may not want to wait this long to seek the help of your physician.
If you are over 35, it would be advisable for you to start off with a good pre-pregnancy checkup. This will save a great amount of time if any infertility problems are suspected, thus saving precious cycles in which to conceive. If you are over 40 you have a one in twenty chance of conceiving each cycle. This means that it could take up to 20 months for conception to occur. It is highly recommended that if you are over the age of 40, begin trying to conceive under the care of your physician. This will insure that time will not be wasted, and that everything is done correctly for conception to occur.

Oooh I like that bit...everyone else has said 12 months, but me being the impatient creature I am; 6 months sounds just dandy, it's been about that now...
