The interesting thing here is.
1. Trump did not offer to send in National Guard troops.
2. If the IG report is true, Trump just asked a question, rather than offering resources.
3. At no point does it say that Trump offered 10,000 troops. This seems to be a bit of false propaganda running in right wing circles and right wing propaganda media.
4. What does this have to do with Nancy Pelosi? Seems to be that the idea that Nancy Pelosi rejected a request for 10,000 Troops is again right wing nonsense, spread by propaganda personalities.

In other words, 10,000 troops was a guesstimate based on Trump’s inflated belief in his ability to draw a crowd. The statement did not come as part of a meeting to discuss how to handle the event. Instead, it appears to have been an offhand remark. That’s not the same thing as a “request.” (Trump certainly knew how to order the deployment of National Guard troops in June 2020.)

In fact, the Defense Department never acted on Trump’s remarks, according to our reporting, as department officials did not regard the offhand comment to be a “direct order,” as Meadows claimed.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said officials checked the records after Trump’s remarks about ordering 10,000 National Guard troops. “We have no record of such an order being given,” Kirby told The Fact Checker.

So it seems to me that D Trump, made an offhand comment at a meeting that had nothing to do with the Jan 6 event. And now Trump supporters are claiming that this comment was an official request and that it was Nancy Pelosi that denied that official request.

The request for assistance from the National Guard was made by the Mayor of DC on December 31st and her request was approved. There was no offer from Trump prior to January 6th, or on January 6th itself for that matter. He only made a passing remark to Miller about needing 10,000 National Guard troops on January 5th. Miller took his comment to mean that a large force would be required to maintain order the following day and nothing more.

On December 31, 2020, Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser sent a written request to Major General William J. Walker, Commanding General of the D.C. National Guard, seeking unarmed National Guard support to the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department and D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services for planned demonstrations scheduled for 5 and 6 January.

Over the following weekend, the Secretary of the Army, Ryan D. McCarthy, and the Army Chief of Staff, General James C. McConville, reviewed Mayor Bowser’s request and presented it to me and Chairman Milley on Monday, January 4, 2021. I formally approved the request that morning and conveyed it to the Secretary of the Army. The Secretary of the Army further confirmed the approval of this support to the Deputy Attorney General of the United States.

Because the District of Columbia is not a state, its mayor needs Presidential approval to use the D.C. National Guard, unlike state governors who can unilaterally mobilize their National Guard forces. The President had delegated his authority in this regard to the Secretary of Defense.

I also want to address questions that have been raised in regard to the President’s involvement in the response. He had none with respect to the Department of Defense efforts on January 6.

The President asked if I was watching the event on television. I replied that I had seen coverage of the event. He then commented that “they” were going to need 10,000 troops the following day. The call lasted fewer than thirty seconds and I did not respond substantively, and there was no elaboration. I took his comment to mean that a large force would be required to maintain order the following day. At the time, I had been advised by our domestic law enforcement partners that based on their experience with protests and crowd control, as well as their intelligence information, that they were confident that they had sufficient personnel assigned to maintain order. More specifically, the National Guard had been providing, and were committed to continue to provide, the support requested by Mayor Bowser. I am unaware of any briefing or any other discussions the President may have had with any other government officials or his advisors regarding law enforcement preparations for January 6.

The Jan 6 public hearings presenting Republican eye witness testimonies quite clearly showed that D Trump was aware of the violent assault of the capital, was aware that the violent mob were his people, doing his bidding, was aware they were chanting "hang Mike Pence" was aware that police were being violently attacked and that the building was being illegally invaded.

Trump was aware that some in the mob were armed with weapons and came from his speech where he was telling staff to stop checking for weapons, and where he inflamed the feelings of the crowed and then directed the crowd to go to the capital.

The Jan 6 hearings then proved that on Jan 6 when all this was happening, D Trump did nothing for over three hours other than just to watch the insurrection unfold on TV, he even wanted to join the insurrectionists but was denied by his own Secret Service driver. Many of his admin, his collegues, his family and his Fox news opinion show host friends were imploring him to call off his mob, but he still refused for over three hours.

Calls to get help were orchestrated by Pence as the VP as the President was not taking any action in a moment (over 3 hours) that called for an immediate action to save lives and save the government and democracy in USA.

You see the problem is Gen. Milley in testimony clearly said that VP Pence gave the orders and Mark Meadows tried to cover up the fact that Pence took charge when Trump wouldn't.
Gen. Milley was under oath.

Trump would have called the National Guard if it had gotten “bad” enough. That was the point of the Ninth Hearing: He waited 187 minutes to do anything because obviously to he, himself, it wasn’t bad enough, for him to do anything about the riot.

Rather than leading an insurrection, President Trump was watching television, FOX news specifically. Video of the various skirmishes only came out much later. If the Capitol police and other security could not handle the situation and Pelosi, or the mayor of D.C., or Chuck Schumer decided they wanted the National Guard to help and had called President Trump for assistance knowing the president he would have acted at the drop of a hat. Why they did not call for assistance we do not know, that's why it is important to take Nancy Pelosi's testimony and get the emails from her staff. President Trump could only offer the National Guard, the president does not have jurisdiction over the Capitol or Washington D.C., if he had the authority he would have followed his own recommendation and had the troops there to handle the expected large crowd.
