Yes, forced religion never works. Also, I believe true Christians vote Democrat because they care about babies, children and people.
?? Dems are the party of death and want to kill babies. Jesus doesn't.

I think the article was about public schools. You seem to think that if the truth is taught that this means that unlimited lies also must be taught. No.
Nice to see you no longer call yourself undefeated.

"Numerous states introducing Bible Literacy classes, giving students the option of studying the Bible. Starting to make a turn back? Great!" Mr. Trump tweeted Monday morning after "Fox and Friends" ran a segment on the topic.

Trump backs push for Bible classes in schools

Sounds good, will get votes. I think that is the only intention here, as there doesn't appear to be any kind of actual consideration as to how make it work as part of the curriculum.

Seems like you missed that one.
They support abortion.

Democrats have been running Chicago for a long time -- how is that city doing?

Or we can look at the excessive rat and homeless problems in San Francisco and Los Angeles. What are the democrats in charge of those cities doing -- nothing.

Actually -- they don't even talk a good game
much less do anything
oh wait they are excellent at
raising taxes.

In California we are now getting taxed to death.
Highest gas and food prices etc, etc..
Property taxes -- oh my golly!

So, no suggestion about what should be taught in a public school Bible class--the best you can do is deflect and start whining about Democrats and abortion.

Oh boy --
It would be nice if classes were FREE
to teach from the Bible.

My wife (third grade teacher)
for one would love that.

But, it will never (in these sick unmoral times)
happen again in the United States
(as it once did.)

Too many here are nonbelievers
or so very weak in their faith
that they -- don't want that.

Need we Christians explain more -- no.

Or, they are strong in their faith and don't want somebody else's version of Christianity taught to their kids.

If you vote to take money away from programs, that help poor children and their family . Then you're 100 percent for abortion. And democrats are doing what they can to help the homeless. When republicans don't.

Not sure what you are referring to?
Sure it's good for kids to know?
M-Bob

Since Trump is the one who's claiming to want bible classes in school, I assume the supporters of that measure are partly due to them thinking that it will somehow impose their own personal brand of morals pertaining to sexuality (or objections to certain aspects of science class) on curriculum, correct? It's only fair to point out if the person who's claiming to want those in schools, hasn't lived up to those rules, himself (which he hasn't...3 marriages, and multiple cases of infidelity)

There are other biblical lessons and virtues like "don't kill" and "don't steal"...but pretty sure those are already accounted for within the school handbook...so I'm assuming it doesn't have anything to do with those.

Safe to assume that what they're going for is wanting the schools to start teaching:
Gay = Bad
Evolution = Fake

..but at the end of the day, I don't think Trump necessarily cares too much about it, I think it's much more likely that it's a "rally the troops leading up election time" tactic.

Why is it necessary to teach more than Jesus' two commandments? Even just the second one would do..

The minions are so intent on maintaining power that they haven't even noticed another term has gone by over 50 years where Roe vs Wade still stands. lol

Seems like you missed that one, Bob. I've explained how Republicans nowadays are talking the good talk on abortion not doing much of a diddly dang to achieve lower abortion rates. It shouldn't all just be about what makes retired folks living on mountains with their goats happy. It should be about what is actually effective.

Donald took an oath to be the president of the country, for all people. Not just the folks in his base. Chicago, LA, SF, are all cities in his country. They'll are actually doing pretty darn well if you look at the overall facts and not just the ugliest parts Donald wants to fixate on when he bullies. Nobody in this country is in more desperate need of Bible classes than Donald Trump.

Yes Bob, we Christians obviously need to explain more. The class couldn't just consist of the teacher gushing about Donald's Tweet wanting Bible classes. Mrs. Mountainwoman doesn't just go into her classroom and smack her gums around about something. She puts in the work to come up with lesson plans. She puts thought into it. Since you are so enthusiastic why not put some effort into it? Tell us what you'd want the class to teach.

Who's "we", Bob? You got a mouse in your pocket?

Posts like these all over this thread are exactly why I don't trust Bible classes to be taught in any manner that is not about literacy in and familiarization with the text as a text (its settings, its themes, its context, etc.), rather than teaching about how people need to interpret its meaning. There are 2,000 years of Christian saints to turn to for that, and it's really not appropriate to hand that over from the church to whoever happens to be tasked with leading the classroom (unless, of course, you are purposely attending/sending your kids to a religious school connected to your particular church, where those who teach religion courses can be expected to know their own church's tradition regarding what it is that they are teaching).

these won't last too long once people realize it's not THEIR christianity that is being taught. Like how prayer and religious schools were removed. It's all fine and dandy to have Christianity taught untill fundementalist christians find the school is teaching liberal ideas, or liberals christian find out that the schools teaching fundementalist ideas, or catholic or protestants.
