That 600 should of came months ago.. Things were different... Now.. it's been much longer and they people need more..

But... If you're all for giving your tax dollars to Pakistan for Gender confusion education...While the tax paying people get a slap in the face.... you're one of the few.

This should have been a stand alone bill .. not one that comes with baggage.
LOL, you still don't get it - the COVID relief package is attached to the yearly omnibus bill. The things you aren't referring to aren't in the COVID relief package, they are in the omnibus bill that is passed EVERY year at this time.

And what, Trump couldn't have told the Republicans 2 weeks ago he wanted more than $600? I agree people need more, the dems agree people need more, but Trump and the Republicans did not.

I'm also wondering why, despite all of the opportunities for education on this thread, you still think that the money for Pakistan is related to Gender "confusion." Its for programs that promote gender equality, which is sorely lacking in Pakistan. It has nothing to do with gender changes. Just trying to get women equal access to education and democracy. And you should probably complain to Trump, not me about it. It was in his proposal!

But the COVID-19 Relief Package and the Omnibus were voted as one bill containing 5000 pages.

Today on the talking head programs, it was revealed by both Republicans and Democrats that Trump was never involved in the negotiations that took place in Congress, but came at the 11th hour to say he'll not sign the bill which only gives American $600.

Where was he for the past 8 months ?

Not signing this bill means a shutdown of government.

It means businesses and people not getting help

It also means that distribution of the COVID-19 Vaccines, will slow to a halt as the government agencies involved will stop providing the logistics necessary to distribute the vaccine to the states. In other words the governors of the states will be able to deal with what they have on stock now, but nothing more will be coming.

Moderna and Pfizer might as well sell the vaccines to foreign nations rather than have them sit in warehouses doing nothing.

All this is because of the narcissist in the White House, who can't accept the fact that he lost the election.

Trump was not involved in the negotiations, but his Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin, was a proponent of the stimulus checks worth $600 per person. If Trump disagreed with that amount he should have intervened.

That is not correct, the final proposal has been given to him for his approval and he has said no, how you come up with a final approval before the proposal was finalized is beyond any logic.
He already told Congress what it would take for him to sign the bill. He specifically endorsed a number of items, in writing, which he now finds problematic. He had already given them HIS "final proposal."

This is not how our government is supposed to function, and what he did has serious consequences for the American people.

I’m Happy to google that for ya friend:

Here’s a great breakdown with links to the specific document sections and screenshots of those sections.
If you need more help after this, just ask.

Again, the list of items that oddly bother Trump all of the sudden, were included in his own budget request that he submitted to Congress earlier this year. It’s posted on the White House website with appendices and attachments that detail everything in his wish list last February which he now condemns. The dollar amounts Congress approved and sent to him for his signature are almost exactly what he wanted.

Let’s take a look at each item one-by one.

“$85.5 million for assistance to Cambodia”

This item is listed in the State Department appendix where it says:

CAMBODIA.— (1) ASSISTANCE.—Of the funds appropriated under title III of this Act, not less than $82,505,000 shall be made available for assistance for Cambodia

WhiteHouse-budget-assistance-for-Cambodia.png

www.whitehouse.gov/...

“$134 million to Burma”

This is also in Trump’s State Department appendix where it says:

BURMA.— (1) BILATERAL ECONOMIC ASSISTANCE.— (A) [Of the funds]Funds appropriated by [under title III of] this Act [, not less than $131,450,000 shall] and prior acts making appropriations for the Department of State, foreign operations, and related programs for assistance for Burma may be made available [for assistance for Burma

www.whitehouse.gov/...

“$1.3 billion for Egypt and the Egyptian military”

This is in Trump’s main budget document for Fiscal Year 2021. Note: Trump claimed that Egypt would use the assistance to “go out and buy almost exclusively Russian military equipment” but that’s not how it works. The FMF or Foreign Military Financing grants delivered to Egypt every year are sent in military hardware built by US defense contractors, not cash that can be used to buy from Russia.

The Budget also fully supports the U.S.-Jordan Memorandum of Understanding at $1.3 billion and the U.S. diplomatic and security partnership with Egypt, including $1.3 billion in FMF grant assistance.

“$25 million for democracy and gender programs in Pakistan”

This one is also in Trump’s State Dept appendix. It says:

ASSISTANCE.—Of the funds appropriated under title III of this Act that are made available for assistance for Pakistan, not less than $15,000,000 shall be made available for democracy programs and not less than $10,000,000 shall be made available for gender programs.

“$505 million to Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama”

In Trump’s State Dept budget appendix, it says:

CENTRAL AMERICA.—

(1) ASSISTANCE.—

(A) Of the funds appropriated by this Act under titles III and IV, not less than $519,885,000 should be made available for assistance for Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama, including through the Central America Regional Security Initiative:

“$40 million for the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC”

This is in Trump’s budget appendix for Other Independent Agencies. It says:

JOHN F. KENNEDY CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS

OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE

For necessary expenses for the operation, maintenance and security of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, [$25,690,000] $26,400,000, to remain available until September 30, 2022. (Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2020.)

CAPITAL REPAIR AND RESTORATION For necessary expenses for capital repair and restoration of the existing features of the building and site of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, [$17,800,000] 14,000,000, to remain available until expended. (Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2020.)

“$1 billion for the Smithsonian”

This is also in the appendix for Other Independent Agencies. The two amounts total the $1 billion Trump cited. It says:

SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION

Federal Funds

SALARIES AND EXPENSES

For necessary expenses of the Smithsonian Institution, as authorized by law, including research in the fields of art, science, and history; development, preservation, and documentation of the National Collections; presentation of public exhibits and performances; collection, preparation, dissemination, and exchange of information and publications; conduct of education, training, and museum assistance programs; maintenance, alteration, operation, lease agreements of no more than 30 years, and protection of buildings, facilities, and approaches; not to exceed $100,000 for services as authorized by 5 U.S.C. 3109; and purchase, rental, repair, and cleaning of uniforms for employees, [$793,658,000] $820,313,000 to remain available until September 30, [2021],

FACILITIES CAPITAL

For necessary expenses of repair, revitalization, and alteration of facilities owned or occupied by theSmithsonian Institution, by contract or otherwise, as authorized by section 2 of the Act of August 22, 1949 (63 Stat. 623), and for construction, including necessary personnel, [$253,700,000] $290,000,000, to remain available until expended, of which not to exceed $10,000 shall be for services as authorized by 5 U.S.C. 3109. (Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2020.)

“an additional $154 million for the National Gallery of Art”

This is also included in the appendix for Other Independent Agencies. The two amounts total $173 million, The amount Trump requested was about $19 million more than the amount Congress approved. It says:

NATIONAL GALLERY OF ART

SALARIES AND EXPENSES

For the upkeep and operations of the National Gallery of Art, the protection and care of the works of art therein, and administrative expenses incident thereto, as authorized by the Act of March 24, 1937 (50 Stat. 51), as amended by the public resolution of April 13, 1939 (Public Resolution 9, Seventy-sixth Congress), including services as authorized by 5 U.S.C. 3109; payment in advance when authorized by the treasurer of the Gallery for membership in library, museum, and art associations or societies whose publications or services are available to members only, or to members at a price lower than to the general public; purchase, repair, and cleaning of uniforms for guards, and uniforms, or allowances therefor, for other employees as authorized by law (5 U.S.C. 5901–5902); purchase or rental of devices and services for protecting buildings and contents thereof, and maintenance, alteration, improvement, and repair of buildings, approaches, and grounds; and purchase of services for restoration and repair of works of art for the National Gallery of Art by contracts made, without advertising, with individuals, firms, or organizations at such rates or prices and under such terms and conditions as the Gallery may deem proper, [$147,022,000]$147,174,000, to remain available until September 30, [2021].

www.whitehouse.gov/…

REPAIR, RESTORATION AND RENOVATION OF BUILDINGS

For necessary expenses of repair, restoration and renovation of buildings, grounds and facilities owned or occupied by the National Gallery of Art, by contract or otherwise, for operating lease agreements of no more than 10 years, with no extensions or renewals beyond the 10 years, that address space needs created by the ongoing renovations in the Master Facilities Plan, as authorized, $26,203,000]$14,413,000, to remain available until expended:

WhiteHouse-budget-NatlGalleryOfArt.png

www.whitehouse.gov/...

Trump also mentioned:

  • “$7 million for reef fish management,”
  • “$25 million to combat Asian carp,”
  • “$2.5 million to count the number of amberjack fish in the Gulf of Mexico”
These items weren’t specified in Trump’s budget. Instead, it says that the Fish and Wildlife Service which owns these initiatives is entitled to receive funding that it needs from the Interior Dept.

So, let me know if you need me to walk through any of this with you, otherwise, if you are opposed to all these Trump budget requests that were approved by Congress, I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts on why you believe Donald Trump was wrong to want these items included, and actively negotiate for their inclusion, in the first place, and why, after fighting FOR these monies for nearly a year, (without objection from anyone, certainly not you) he (and, presumably you) only now objects to them after the Bill passes both houses of Congress, now that covid relief $$ for American citizens has been attached??
Seems his (and presumably your) objection to this bill has more to do with covid relief since it’s the only thing he didn’t ask for (and you didn’t object to) in his budget that’s now included in the bill...

Of course I could be wrong about your motives here, and am open to be educated further about them, but 45’s motives seem clear.

Cheers!
Thank you for posting this. I'm kind of astounded right now that people on this thread are still ignorant of the fact that Trump is disputing items that he proposed, officially, in writing. The cognitive dissonance is scary.

Correct, and Mnuchin told Congress to pass the bill and the president will sign it as soon as it hits his desk.

Trump refusing to sign it has Mnuchin and Republicans concerned and today on the talk shows they expressed their confusion on what he's doing.

Their concern is that Trump's behavior will help Georgia vote for the Democrats in the run-off election and the GOP will lose control of the Senate.

Yup. I honestly don't know what Trump is thinking or even if he is thinking.

Well, to be fair, equal rights, equal political access, equal justice under the law and freedom from abuse for women is indeed all too often seen as “gender confusion” by those who insist women should have no such rights, access or protection...as those people get very confused when their gender role paradigm is challenged, and women are placed in equal footing with men legally and politically.

As usual, a grossly overstated claim and, as such, false. It's a strawman argument since the number of people who insist that women should not have any rights, access, or protection are very few indeed and, to the extent that they may exist, neither political party has any sympathy with their views.

How so?
Prove it.
Only grossly overstated claim I've seen on this issue here is the claim that the “gender programs” in this Bill are referencing gender fluidity, sex changes, and gender identity.
Which of course they are not.

But that fact it hasn’t seemed to deter anyone from making the false claim.

Then what is the argument against Trump’s request that we fund gender programs in Pakistan?

I've already explained the reason why the griping about the President's position on this matter is not in accord with the facts.
As I have demonstrated, the president’s griping on this issue is not in accord with the facts.

Transition Highlights: Trump’s Fierce Criticism of Stimulus Bill Leaves Republicans Torn
The democrats are gonna put up a bill giving everything trump said and if the republicans block it they everything falls on the republicans. So I say thank you to our outgoing president
You mean they may have given Trump everything he asked for...no one has the entire bill under his belt yet so to speak...it is that large of a volume. So it is more accurate to state Trump will veto a bill with too much pork in it. I would classify anything that uses US dollars to build security walls against illegal immigrants for our not so very friendly countries, like Iran, as at least pork...and all the while the Dems stand firmly against a US border wall to secure our countrymen. WOW!! Hope he vetos it...and yes, "news" will report it much as you have stated. No more Truth, No more Justice, No more Righteousness will be left in the US. How sad!

He signed the bill Into law five hours before you posted this. Apparently he is in 100% agreement with everything he asked for and received. it’s now the law thanks to our President.

Wrong "Bud." You have provided a biased source, and I am challenging it. The following is from the Code of Academic Debate: "Naive use of highly biased authorities is one of the most frequent failings of debaters. Quoting employees of tariff-sensitive industries against free trade, of AMA representatives against a national health act, of labor union officials against putting unions under anti-trust law, of writers on Chiang Kai-shek's payroll against Communist China, are all equally useless." What you have provided is useless. Provide something from an unbiased source. And yes, they do exist. The New York Times is seen as having a liberal bias, but another New York paper, the Wall Street Journal, is seen as being fairly middle of the road.
I do not care what source you want to use but you are not going to control what sources I use. Now if you can rebut the article I posted do it.

let me block this out for you, The House put together the proposal, it then went to the Senate, it then when to the President. That is typically the way things work, although sometimes the Senate provides the initial proposal, the House and the Senate are the Legislative branch, they write bills and laws, the President is the Executive branch, he approves or vetoes the proposals of the Legislative branch. I think this is all covered in high school civics class.
