President Donald Trump has sent a campaign fundraising email with the subject line "I want to try and get to Heaven".

The email framed his political survival and legal battles as evidence of divine purpose and asked supporters to contribute $15 during a "24-HOUR TRUMP FUNDRAISING BLITZ."

No, no. That can't possibly be true! <checks email>

Certainly the solicitation quickly segues into safer Trump-y ground rather than a direct appeal to buy his way past the pearly gates.

That’s why I’ve launched a 24 HOUR TRUMP FUNDRAISING BLITZ, and I’m asking everyone to chip in $15 to make it one for the record books!

So if you’re with me all the way to the end, join with MILLIONS of your fellow PATRIOTS by chipping in $15 to keep the wins rolling in!

I do agree. Trump doesn't understand salvation. He has no desire to understand it. It's irrelevant to him because to him the end justifies the means.
For those Trump supporting Christians, the end justifies the means. To quote Russell Moore, the editor of Christianity Today: "Multiple pastors tell me, essentially, the same story about quoting the Sermon on the Mount, parenthetically, in their preaching—'turn the other cheek'—[and] to have someone come up after to say, 'Where did you get those liberal talking points?'" Moore said. When the pastor would say, 'I'm literally quoting Jesus Christ' ... The response would be, 'Yes, but that doesn't work anymore. That's weak," he added. "When we get to the point where the teachings of Jesus himself are seen as subversive to us, then we're in a crisis." Come Trump and Jesus, they are literally replacing one for the other.

It's not just crisis, it's apostasy.

Nah, just a lot of ill-informed Christians. I'm an apostate and I know the writing of Matthew. (Still haven't read the whole NT though.)

Yes, I know that. The point is saying cracker instead of wafer is not disrespectful. Also Trump said he was raised Presbyterian. Presbyterians do not believe in transubstantiation. Presbyterians believe in a spiritual presence of Christ in communion, where the bread and wine are symbolic.
Do Presbyterian believe that we are sinful and need to ask God forgiveness?

To each his own but I would be so embarrassed to vote for this guy. I'd feel so dirty responding to this message by giving him money. This is disgusting emotional manipulaton and I feel sorry for folks who fall for it.

Him Or his underlings who try to profit off this

Do Presbyterian believe that we are sinful and need to ask God forgiveness?
Presbyterians believe that when a person first places their faith in Jesus, they are completely and permanently forgiven for all their sins—past, present, and future.

You got a source for that cause that doesn't seem correct.

Cause it doesnt make sense to me if they continue to confess their sins if their sins were already forgiven.

The justification of a sinner is an all-comprehending act of God.
All the sins of a believer, past, present, and future, are pardoned when he is justified.

Thank you foe that. I appreciate that.

The minister does say...
Why, then, do I still ask for forgiveness. Answer: because I continue to sin!
And from the westminster confession...
God doth continue to forgive the sins of those that are justified; and,
although they can never fall from the state of justification, yet they may, by their sins,
fall under God’s fatherly displeasure, and not have the light of His countenance restored
unto them, until they humble themselves, confess their sins, beg pardon, and renew their
faith and repentance. (11:5).

So not rnecessarily cut and dried

If you ask some OSAS Christians that question they might tell you no, based on their belief / undestranding of that doctrine. And some will say asking for forgiveness after you've been forgiven is showing a lack of faith and even an insult to God. (Disclaimer: That's not my point of view and I'm not advocating it).

And not easy to play. The acoustic I've nailed but I'm stuck on one fast repetitive section of the initial lead.
And the 12 string on the "it really makes me wonder" section!

There's lots of Christians who believe you shouldn't keep asking for forgiveness, because they believe once a person becomes a Christian all of their sins past, present and future are forgiven. Therefore if you keep asking for forgiveness you are showing a lack of faith in the atonement.

Yes, they're called biblically illiterate Christians.

"If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, then He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." - 1 John 1:8-9

They'll say that's about the first time you ask for forgiveness.
