• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

It is a sin because you're not living in accordance with your biology. You were born either a man or a woman.

This is not always the case. Gender dysphoria is the compelling sense that your physical body does not match the gender you were born into. I can't even begin to imagine how difficult that must be. :( And by the way, gender dysphoria and homosexuality are not the same thing.

Sarah, I don't know your situation, and it would be foolish of me to say what is right or wrong for you in this. I do see that you are very young. I hope you have been through some thorough counseling over this decision. I know this issue is not so simple or clear-cut as many think. I pray that you have a Christian counselor who can help you work through the spiritual aspects of this choice. Personally, I believe that whichever decision you make, God will still love you and will still call you into relationship with Himself. May you have wisdom and peace to choose the right way to go.

Mom is worried that having a sex change operation will keep me out of heaven
And I dont know how to convince her otherwise and to tell you the truth im not so sure anymore so what do yall think?

why dont you print off the answers on here from people showing how it wont affect whether or not you'll get into heaven.

i think i heard that before having a sex change operation you have to go through a lot of things to show its something you're commited to and im sure i was told this involved counselling (im probably wrong!) maybe you and your mum could go to a christian counsellor together, someone who could help your mum understand where you're coming from and also how she feels about this. You are making a big decision and its pretty important you do it with your mums help and support.

No it wasn't. It asked what we thought, and I gave what I saw in the bible which is the only way I know how to try and help. I did not judge.

I tried to express the Love of Christ to this person, why in the world are you so upset?

I am a male to femal as right now I am male but will soon begin transition to become female.
I know it is something hard to understand if you yourself are not TS and I apreciate everyone who is willing to learn opposed to just shut me out and label it a sin cause you dont like it.

Is there any way to divorce transexuality from homosexuality? I mean, seriously. Even if you don't want to lure men, if you were to lure women, that would be feeding their lesbian desires. That's the main reason I would consider it a sin.

Jesus loves you, I don't know why you feel you need to do this, but He created you and died to take the blame for your sin away. If you don't do this and turn to Him, He will be overjoyed. If you go through with the operations and repent later, He will still be overjoyed but your options for life will be a lot more limited, as you can't get working male parts once they're gone.

Well when a person does soemthing like that, it's basically saying" Lord you made me wrong and you made a mistake cause...". And we know that the Lord is perfect and we are made in His image so you are perfect just the way you are. That and the Lord knew EXACTALLY what he was doing when made you me and everyone else in the world. and we have no right to tell the person who created EVERYTHING that he's wrong. Please I'm not trying to be mean this is just what I beleave and I feel the same for all types of plastic surgerys.

Normal???? please define normal?
Dressing in accordance with biology. If one is a male, then dress as a male so that other people know that you're a male, if you're female dress like a female.
Normal is not trying to fool others by crossdressing, and going against what you are.

umm...this post. It is quite possible for someone to be born with a male body and a female brain (or vise versa), just like it is possible for someone to be born with any other type of birth defect. All it takes is an accidental release of testosterone in early fetal development to change a female to a male.

I agree with forgivensinner, some people are born with birth defects or twins that share the same body. Is that natural? I believe when we are made in God's image, it doesn't mean physically because God is spirit
I think most defects are relegated to "God's will" status unless they involve sexuality, then our preoccupation with sex comes into play and we condemn anyone who isn't what we consider normal. What about someone who is hermophroditic? I wonder what kind of advice they would be given? Maybe "You are an abomination and should kill yourself!!" or some such?

Although I suppose it is understandable considering how sexually permissive society is, it is almost a reflex to be repressive about it.

There's also hormones to help that. Men can be affeminate (though not homosexual) and not run afoul of God.
Hormones can't truely change your gender; just look at David Reimer's story.

What about a man being homosexual but remaining abstinant?

Wow...

I find this thread disturbing. I've seen several instances where people say that this is a sin ... but then just advise to pray about it.. and not to worry that it's a sin because God will forgive you.

This is a horrible attitude toward any sin! You should not use forgiveness as a licence to sin! We should avoid sin at all cost ... our savior died on a cross for us... can we at least try to avoid sin when we know it's a sin???!!! That should be the LEAST that we do!

In responce to the thread starter here. Ask your pastor!!

God Bless,
Carina

You are wrong!!!!!!!! I have not seen one post here that advocates SIN! Not one of them, EVEN THE ONES I PERSONALLY DISAGREE WITH, have not promoted licensiouness! Who are you to come in and in one fell swoop judge everybody who has posted here? I am appalled! And as you can readily see, I know how to use punctuation to express indignation too!
