Tissue - you brought up age and imo by far have made the most condescending posts.

I have made a number of defending posts against an outdated, silly notion that most people throw around without entirely understanding.

Actually Angel is correct - wisdom does come with age - why do you think a President has to be at a certain age to even run for office?

Because of a generalization. There are 70-year-olds I wouldn't trust with a wooden spoon. There are 20-year-olds I think could run this country better than Clinton or Bush. There isn't some magical force that makes someone worthwhile at 35. It's a generalization.

It's well known. I have alot more of it my age than I did when I was 20... to the point where I could kick myself in the ways I thought and lived for so many years.

Now that's quite different; relative to yourself, surely you do get wiser. I will be wiser in twenty years than I am now. But when that wisdom is measured as relative to someone else; that's where I have issues.

I don't care what was "modest" or done as custom 2000 years ago.

You are free to enjoy your Puritanical values which aren't really based on The Bible but on culture.

All I see are people who are afraid of their bodies and other people's bodies.
I'm not PURITANICAL, I cover up my boobs and genitals like a normal person.
Don't call me puritanical as an insult when you haven't even seen me.

I'm calling for NORMAL CLOTHES - ie. just wear clothes & don't go 1/2 naked.
I just love how all of a sudden if we don't think women going 1/2 naked is Godly, we're automatically "puritanical" or prudish.

Again, same crap is done with anyone anti-gay... just say you're against homosexuality becuz it's sin and youre instantly a homophobe.

Maybe we should make negative terms for people who have trouble with conservative morality & slap them on people around here.

Sorry that label isn't going to fly and its absurd extremism for this drastic topic of partial nudity

Thats also the reason Jesus started ministry at age 30 and why rabbi's had to be 30 to minister...

Surely you don't mean to suggest Jesus was not infinitely-wise BEFORE the age of 30?

and why the bible says wisdom comes with age as well.

Which you have still not defined. Until you actually know what it is, I'm not entirely set on accepting your testimony as valid.

Obviously the fact that we are here publically talking about boobs to begin with counters "puritanical" thinking.

Obviously a christian woman wouldnt want to share something so intimate with everyone besides her husband- and a christian man would be much apreciative that His wife thinks enough about herself and him to save it for him alone.

How delightfully intimate that is and what the world loses out on understanding.

Tissue to be acting as if age isnt an issue - but then keep bringing up - isnt wisdom.

Please.

We're arguing. You're insisting age is an issue. I'm insisting it's not. To INSIST that it is NOT means that I MUST bring it up, so that I have an object for the sentence: "I insist that ____ is not the case!"

If that's what wisdom is (that is, a logical contradiction fashioned purely to degrade another member in a forum), then I want nothing of it.

I am becoming more and more convinced you haven't a clue what wisdom actually is. Might I suggest a dictionary, for an easy way out?

Then surely the wife should be given the same respect, and her husband should not go to the beach topless either. That is, of course, the actual point of this argument; equality of the sexes.

A philosopher mentioned once (can't remember who) that some people must be forced to be free. For some women in today's society, that seems to be the case.

Surely you dont mean to put words in my mouth? Its either that or your too young to understand how to debate without throwing out strawmen.

Which you have still not defined. Until you actually know what it is, I'm not entirely set on accepting your testimony as valid.
Actually im wondering if you are in the same thread i am since i quoted the verse in direct response to you already in this thread. I thought senility came with us old people?

I'm not putting words in your mouth. I'm asking you if that's what you meant, since it's certainly implied by your statement.

If Jesus waited until he was 30 because of wisdom gained during that time, then he would have more wisdom at age 30 than at age 29, and one cannot have more than infinity. Thus, at age 29, he was not infinitely wise (according to the example you used in response to your particular position).

I understand how to debate just fine, thank you.

I must be missing it; I glanced through the last three pages and saw no posted Scripture (at least, none that was hallmarked as such). And I'm pretty sure I've already rebutted every definition you've attempted to provide of wisdom.

If you're talking about "Wisdom coming with age", that's not a definition, but a property.

It takes two to tango. I'm not going to bother checking back to see who started it.

Clearly it is an issue with at least one person other than me, as she's still arguing with me about it.

Dearie, I brought it up once. I continue to argue about it because YOU continue to argue about it.

I'm not about to give someone I don't intellectually respect the last word in an argument. It's quite safe to say I will continue this just as long as you do.

I know it's hard to wrap your mind around, but take a good nap and try again.

wisdom might insist that having to have the last word and argue becuz someone else is arguing is not wisdom?? or maturity?

I implied no such thing - i stated when he started his ministry plain and added also that rabbis do the same and its because (since you dont know) that other people would accept no less than a mature man (because Gods word says that wisdom comes with age)

I understand how to debate just fine, thank you.
Thats debatable.

Um you kept putting down a man older than you when you brought up age - then you keep talking about age , then act offended when someone says something about yours (as if you forgot what you started ) And you even keep forgetting whats been posted in this thread and i need a nap?

Rofl !!!!!!!!!!!!

And since Jesus waited until he was mature, he needed to wait for wisdom. If that wasn't your intent, then the example did nothing for your position.

At any rate, I didn't assume, I asked. You exploded.

Oh. That one. I've already addressed this verse in this thread. Check one of your countless paraphrases; it's very likely I posted a rebuttal to it that you didn't bother dealing with.
