CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I think we all forget that it was conservative icon Ronald Reagan who declared amnesty for all undocumented immigrants arriving in America before 1982. Immigrant crime decreased by 3-5%. Those immigrants and their descendants are productive members of our society.
We need comprehensive immigration reform which requires compromise from both sides. The wall is a non-starter. Only a president who doesn't do his homework believes it can work. Most undocumented immigrants come in with visas, often through airports, and never return home.
An attainable path to citizenship for current undocumented immigrants, an immediatae path to citizenship for Dreamers, and border security that is both tough and sensitive to humanitarian concerns. Why can't we get it done?

Republicans pushed for more visas for low skilled labour workers to come do jobs like work at Trump's golf courses for much cheaper than what Americans will accept being paid. Even though visa overstay is the leading cause of illegal immigration in America. But the same Republicans push for Trump's impotent wall.
