I wasn't aware that the internet would affect my liver or impair my judgment and/or ability to drive. Thanks for the warning.

Is it just me or do people compare apples to oranges a lot?

The internet can pollute your mind and your soul.

Internet addiction is recognised as a growing problem in the so-called developed world.

Some people can handle the internet, others can't. (Just like Alcohol.)

Alcohol and Internet are far more similar on many levels than one might think at first glance.

Rusticus, I see your point, but the Bible never calls the internet a mocker (liar), which it specifically does alcoholic wine or strong drink.

I use the internet all the time but I don't visit hate sites or pornographic sites at all. All that we do is to glorify God.

Someone posted a verse earlier about setting no evil thing before our eyes. In my opinion that specifically addresses television and the internet.

Revelation 2:26 - And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

Nothing should have power over us except the influence of the Holy Spirit. I can't see the Holy Spirit telling people "oh just one won't hurt."

They did so, 9and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10and said, "Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now."John 2:9-11 (New International Version)

It seems that Jesus turned water into wine, even though the guests at the wedding already had a lot to drink (otherwise they would not have run out of wine.)

The point I am making is that I think it is not reasonably possible to use the Bible to support an argument for prohibition.

(Obviously, alcohol abuse and/or addiction to alcohol are a different matter altogether. Just as it is for any other abuse and/or addiction.)

Hi Rusticus--as the Originator of this thread, I would ask that we not stray from the OP. If you'd like to address "internet addictions" I suggest you open up that thread in the General Discussion forum. But lets keep this thread on track--ok? Thank you
Blessings, Honor

LOL! They should make those for petite hands too...otherwise you're right, it looks like you're rooting for the home team at a football game. :)

She IS!! She's rooting, right along with us for God's Home Team!! Way to go, Happy. I LURVE the glove.

Happy brought up the point that Rusiticus (at least I THINK that's who she was referring to) doesn't have an SDA icon, when she said something about debating in here.

I'm wondering if his says Christian-Seventh-day Adventist, too. I would like to ask anyone, maybe honor would know, she's SO intelligent in these areas, just where they would have gotten that from. I mean we're Seventh-day Adventists and we're christians, I have just never seen it put together like that before, as if it's a "title". I think that may be causing confusion.
