Replying to the main topic in question. :)

I think alcohol is ok as long as it's managed. It's upto the drinker to be responsible for how much he/she consumes.

I have to disagree with your point of view as it is not Biblical nor is it the official SDA position in relationship to alcohol.

I also do not think it should be promoted by an Adventist on an Adventist Forum for the world to see and get an opinion that Adventists think it is OK to consume alcohol.

If there is one thing that gets me going and that is the promotion of drinking/smoking/drugs. They are all linked together and if one looks at the evidence the consumption of alcohol is probably the most dangerous.

Many say it is Australia's greatest drug problem.

Sorry if I offended anyone. I am a very devout christian and I think we should educate people more about the effects of alcohol. I don't like when people think they can drink all they want and think they are super human. Nothing wrong with a glass of wine once in a while. I don't drink much at all really. Even when I do it's controlled to a safe level.

Happy brought up the point that Rusiticus (at least I THINK that's who she was referring to) doesn't have an SDA icon, when she said something about debating in here.

Ooops, sorry about that, Chief.

You see, I often look through "Latest" topics for anything that interests me. That is how I came across this one. I did not realise this was for Seventh Day Adventists specificially.
(Although I was wondering why there were so many of them on the thread...).

Now that you have drawn my attention to this I apologise profusely and request that you ignore anything I said in my previous posts.

(Looking at the rules for posting here I see that I am allowed to ask questions [but not enter into debate]. Now that I have found you I will be aksing a question about Seventh Day Adventists that has been on my mind for about 4 years or so. [Don't worry, It is not about Alcohol]. But to do so I will obviously start a new topic. I'll be back as soon as soon as I have some time to spare.)

Blessings

Forgive me. Alcohol does no good for anyone and I will withdraw any support for it as of right now. I have asked the Lord for forgiveness, if it is His will.

Rusti--It is ALWAYS the Lord's will to FORGIVE!! He delights in mercy--it makes His day when we repent. If there is one prayer you can bet the Lord will ALWAYS honor--it's the prayer of SINCERE repentance!!!!!! Bless your heart!!

Love--Honor

First, I'm not an SDA but have many SDA associates and some friends.

I don't want to give any false impressions, so first I'd like to say I don't understand how anyone can be an SDA if they seriously study the church history and doctrine. Especially the teachings of EGW.

Having said that I'll move on to the topic: Alcohol:

Alcohol is not prohibited in the bible, that is if you read all text which pertain to it. If you isolate certain biblical text, you can make it appear that it is strictly and altogether forbidden. If you do so you are either, ignorant of the facts, or simply ignoring God's Word in favor of the doctrines of men, which is a grave, very grave, sin.

Gee, that's funny...I say the same thing about people who AREN'T SDA, how can they NOT be, if they seriously study the BIBLE and learn God's TRUTH.

So, I guess we're even.

Ok, you made me laugh, thanks, I enjoyed that. Laughter is healthy!

If you study the bible, and not SDA doctrine, it seems impossible for one to draw many of the conclusions steming from SDA doctrines. They seem to emanate from that luny lady EGW, who was in my opinion, either crazy, or simply a charlatan.

But we seemed to get off the issue: drinking (my fault).
