I don't recall saying anything about students or cartoonists...

You cited Shane Patrick Boyle, a cartoonist, and Alec Raeshawn Smith, a 26 year old student.

Boyle could have survived if he had informed his friends of his situation and borrowed money from them. He had raised enough money (after his death) through GoFundMe to pay them back. Smith apparently neglected to make arrangements (a job perhaps) for his insulin supply after he was no longer on his parents insurance. His death occurred shortly after as he was still 26.

Neither death in any way supports your contentions.

FACT CHECK: Shane Patrick Boyle Died After Starting a GoFundMe Campaign for Insulin?

The difference is, that I'm not an exception in my country.
Everyone gets the treatment I got, for the exact same price, no matter what your income is and without paying a small fortune in premiums to private insurances who contribute NOTHING to the process.

If you are going to try and tell me that your case is the standard in the US, I'm just gonna laugh.

Sorry. I was referring to admission and treatment time. Hospitals have lots of empty beds that need filling thus the fast admission. Of course our systems are different. You can afford to get sick, many Americans can't.

Good for you.

This changes nothing about the rather horrible, disturbing and unsettling things you've been saying in this thread.

Truth can be disturbing and unsettling, but truth nonetheless.

Why do many Americans lack an ability to empathise with people who have had it rough in life and instead tend to generalise them as "dead beats" - to borrow a horrid expression??

No one blames every poor person for their situation. However many are responsible and must face that fact if they are to succeed. It's called "tough love".

You might want to read back what Jesus supposedly said about the poor. And the rich, for that matter.

According to many who don't know much about Jesus he "supposedly" said lots of things....that he never said. Jesus is often pictured with children in his lap and surrounded by cute little lambs. Not the real Jesus of scripture.

That's rich, coming from the land of debtors' prisons.

Do you think these institutions still exist here? Debtors' prisons were abolished by the Bankruptcy Act of 1869. Our NHS didn't come into being until 1946 as a result of the then Labour Governments policy to improve the general health care of the poor.

We used to burn witches as well, but we saw that it was wrong to do so.

Now you burn anyone in the womb with saline solution and use their remains to heat your hospitals, don't you?

And that's "progress"?

I don't know how hospitals are heated - can you back up your claim.

And what sort of mind set must you have to make such arguments to try to feel superior??

Actually it's called indifference.

And by the way I wasn't criticizing you as a person. I was criticizing the views you were expressing.

Tough love may be 'indifferent' to mollycoddling those who need some harsh discipline.

When criticism is harsh enough it is taken personally. A person's opinions are actually part of his 'persona'. If someone says my opinions are idiotic they are really calling me an idiot.

That said the Christian perspective isn't always kind and gentle. Jesus was often quite harsh, and personal, in his criticisms.

Are you serious?

You think that he didn't think of that? When his life was on the line? Are you kidding me?

Boyle's friends didn't know anything about his situation until after his death. He apparently didn't have a "plan B".

Yes I'm serious, and no I'm not kidding (your incredulity notwithstanding). ;)

But I do know them. So does my liberal Mayor. (Warning: This article is describes reality in Madison, WI.)

Surge in Homelessness Tests Wisconsin Capital’s Welcoming Spirit
All across the country now, for over 20 years,
the rich, leaders, churches, governments, agencies , corporations, and other countries influencing the USA,
have all greatly contributed
to
the
great increase in homelessness, and the oppression of the homeless, and the great diminishing of the opportunities for everyone to live life freely working at a trade, an honest trade, to even learn a trade.... .... (even farming! 'squished' by big brother practically out of existence) .....
and so on.....
and still getting worse and worser and worsest
every day, more and more....
as written "the wicked will continue to get more wicked" ....

I think it started earlier than 20 years ago, back in the 1970's if the numbers are correct.
