This is getting weird

hey guys there is a "non-denominational" church not to far from my house and there membership has recently grown by leaps and bounds since they became non-denominational. but anyway thats not what bothers me. they seem to do some stuff to me that seemed weird. i always just kinda wrote it off. but recently I stumbled across one of there "meetings" and let me say it was scary. turns out they have these "meetings" out in the woods in this clearing and they play a trumpet to signal the start of the meeting or something but its not like they play a song. they just blast the horn. i dunno but should I be worried that they are some kind of cult brain washing people?

You'll probably need to learn more about it than that. There are churches who move their meetings to different places for different occasions. And to be fair, a horn to signal the beginning of a service isn't much different from our church bells, which serve the same purpose.

yeah your probably right i might be over reacting a little. just reminded me of a KKK meeting or something.

i think what strikes me as really weird is the fact that the "meetings" are so remote. i mean you have to have a 4 wheel drive to get there. you drive like 30 minutes into the woods. then go down a logging road way back even further to get to the spot.

It's not in the evening is it? Because that can be dangerous with people getting lost and stuff. I know that if I was in a remote area by woods when it's getting dark, I would probably be the first person to get lost.

yeah im really familiar with the area so i probably wouldnt get lost. but its kinda creepy. i think i might go sometime just out of curiosity.

a cell phone...honey if they're that far out in the woods you know you wouldnt be able to get a signal, half the time you cant get one on the main road....i'll have to ask devin about it tomorrow..im a slightly interested now, you'll have to take me sometime.

I'd be cautious to go to one of those meetings. That's just me though. If you plan on revealing that you are a Catholic, be prepared to defend yourself. The non-denominatinal churches by me are especially brutal towards Catholics.

But from the information you have given alone, it doesn't seem to be any better or worse than most others.

Don't go to the meetings. You might end up giving them the impression that a Catholic can attend them without a problem, or that any harmony is possible between the Church and their group.
