If they have cash reserves then they are not working a deficit are they? Isn't that called surplus?
Didn't say that the Catholic Church has cash reserves.

Nothing wrong with turning a profit with Gods money as long as all the profit go to charity and ministry as it was originally intended when it was given, and if it isn't gambled away on risky business, and it should be an honest and clean profit too, of course.

I always wondered why churches didn't start businesses that would bring in a renewable source of revenue to support ministry and charity.

Maybe there is a reason that im not aware of though.

Well, most not-for-profit organizations do sell items at a profit to give the money to the cause they support. For example the Cancer Research Institute takes old cars, sells them for whatever they get, and takes the money to help finance cancer research.

There are industries, such as printers and vestment makers, and so on that are businesses that support the Catholic Church, but the Church takes all she gets and puts it out into the world. Much of the work the Church does to restore art, and so on, is done on a volunteer basis. When we build a church building, it all comes from donations, taken over time.

I enjoyed reading your thoughts about creating a new type of church. I especially liked your idea about have elders there all the time. That could be impractical, but some things could be worked out to bring you closer to that ideal.

Here are a couple of ideas taken from the early Christian church. Letters and essays of encouragement from elders could be read aloud as part of the service. These would be carefully prevented from any attempt to have them rise to the level of honor as Scripture is held to be, of course. Also, in their services, time was given to people who have a song or something on that order to share. This is a lovely concept. Best wishes.

Okay :) wow

I know it has been awhile but about a week ago my daughter showed me a video of Todd White. My whole entire concept of church has just changed....

A church that helps others to be equipped to go out into the world ...

watch this video! Sooooooooawesome!!!!!

If you have doubt on her leg being grown out then go to this video and you will see the mans foot and leg move all over on the inside as the leg is grown out.

All I know is I really need to become less and God more...that needs to happen in every church. If we are to be any good for God we need the help of the Holy Spirit.
