  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

DAY 194

Malachi 3 and 4
Luke 1

Here is the MEV Bible's preface of the book of Luke, also highlighting why it is my personal favorite of the four gospels. ^-^ ->

The physician Luke wrote the Gospel bearing his name in the early AD 60s. The place of writing is unknown, but Rome or Achaia are possible locations. According to the "we" sections in the Acts of the Apostles, Luke was a travelling companion of Paul the Apostle (Acts 16:10-17, 20:5-21:18, 27:1-28:16). This Gospel illustrates the compassion and healing ministry of the God-Man Jesus Christ, who was Jehovah's ideal Man. Luke's Gospel was written in conjunction with the Acts of the Apostles, but it was later separated from it, so as not to divide the Gospel writings. Nevertheless, Luke and Acts should be read as one seamless story. Luke emphasizes that the Gospel of Christ is for all, both Jews and Gentiles, based on God's promises in the Old Testament. Luke's Gospel also highlights Jesus' ministry to society's outcasts and poor.

I really like Luke too! But for a different reason: There’s a lot of narrative in it, it doesn't restrict it to just teachings. You can tell he’s very familiar w/ the historicity of it. This interest is really seen in Acts which spreads it out all over the empire. You can tell he's a smart man & has done research.

All the Gospels are good tho & have different things to like about them!

A lot of people think they’re all so different, or all too similar to the point of copying. If you ask me: this is exactly what you should expect to find. Just like today, different people testify & hilight different things, exclude things, include things, but also have harmony & testify to the same things. This is why there are 4!

Would you be able to post your thoughts a little more often? Even just a sentence or two? You don’t have to every time or regularly, but would be helpful once in a while. :) For example what are you learning when reading the whole Bible & not just selective verses from the NT like is common in Cultural or Casual Christianity?
