It was in the upper seventies today here in Lewiston. Thankfully, we had some rain last week. If this keeps up, the rain that is, it won't be so bad this summer. Otherwise, California is in deeeeep... um, trouble. Not much of a snow pack for summer water reserves.

Believe it or not, Lewiston is at the snow level in Northern California.

Shasta, one of our taller mountains, was covered with snow year round when I was a child. Now, it's bare to the summit by late June. Very strange... There is a glacier that's almost gone up there. In fact, most of the glaciers in California have vanished. We're just not getting the snow anymore. Kinda makes one take another look at the 'Global Warming' thing.

I miss St. Louis.

I spent a couple of July's there. I loved it!!
I was at the 4th of July fireworks under the arch in '01. That was the largest crowd of people I have ever seen in one place. It took us three hours to get home... in Clayton!!!

Last time we were there in the summer was coming up on 3 years ago. Took in a little of the convention, visited the son who was interning at CPH, and a bit of sightseeing. Younger son and I walked over to the arch and it was rather warm! Ahh, memories!! All good other than the heat.

Time before that was a number of years ago, in the Ozarks. Going to try to get down there in about October this year. Won't be as hot and humid then.

T-shirts, shorts, and bare feet work well outside. That was my wardrobe of choice while I was there.

Sweltering in St. Lou? How about 120 and 80% in Redding, CA? We hit this four times last year. Crikey! I'd get out of the car and just about melt like a cheap sno-cone! You go bare-foot in Redding and you're risking second and third degree burns on your feet. I'm serious! the man-hole covers are dangerous! You can almost hear the trees crisp. And people around here(in Lewiston) ask me why I don't move to Redding...
