  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Think I'll sit down here for a bit...

A pop up is on my wish list for next year. I figure I can back one of those in place without doing too much damage. ^_^
You've seen women back trailers, haven't you? I'm better than some, but still, there is that pesky chromosomal defect. :sorry:

This morning was our first service at the new time and we did have a marked increase in attendance including some folks we haven't seen in church for a while. :amen:
This along with some outreach ideas that I want to work on I think will help with the ministry of the Church. If we concenrate on doing ministry instead of feeding the checking account, the Lord will provide.
That's wonderful, Rev!

Our old church (one we left a year ago) was very concerned with the checking account (among other things :().

Our new church is very community outreach minded. We now have 3 services, and are in the process of building our new church. Should be dedicated in May.
10 or 15 yrs ago, our present church was really in trouble. Their focus changed, and so did the blessings from our Lord. All Glory to our God!

The Great Commission! :) It's easy to forget, sometimes.:sigh:

You might think of buying an old RV. Easier to park. Problem is that you have to worry about what you back into. I punched a hole in the back of mine backing into a low tree. Also tore the baggage rack almost off. I'm "back-up" challenged to even with the X chromosone. :)

Obviously, we've not left for our camping trip. Weather is the reason.
If anyone is watching the Weather Channel, you might see the strip of red, severe weather in Texas. We live at the south of that patch and are heading up to the northern edge of it to camp. It rained up there all night and right now there is a cell with severe wind and hail headed in that general direction.
I believe we'll wait and leave tomorrow. We've spent the night in our tent in a rain storm, but I'd rather not try to put it up in the middle of one.
I'm sure glad we didn't leave yesterday! We'd likely have been washed away.

I love your avatar. Very, very nice. I'm too lazy to look for things like that, plus I'm just never good at searchs.

Up till about 10 years we did quite a bit of tent camping. That was back when we still used to do a lot if fishing. We would pack everything into our baot and head for the great lakes or Canada and do a whole week of fishing and tent camping.

One time when we went to Canada the whole family went, my son , my daughter, her husband and of course my bride

Anyway, I had a snore that no one could sleep thru, so they put me by myself in a pup tent. The first night was O'k, but when we left for a day of fishing (which is early morning until after dark, yeah, all day) my son in law left the top open on my pup tent. By the time we got back all my bedding and every sticth of clothes I had along was soaked. Woulnd't have been a big deal but we had no way to dry anything except by air. Well that week it rained everyday almost the whole day long. Short story was I was wet all week.

One day when we were out on the lake a really freak storm blew up, with violent winds and driving rain. What was scary was the sky turned green with the wierdest looking clouds I've ever seen. We were told later that this was somewhat the equivelent of a tornado Canada/Great Lakes style.

Still it was a great vacation and we caught lots of fish. :)

Thanks. I work a great deal online and manage several websites so online searches are a snap anymore.
Tell me what you want and I'll find it for you.

Yet another reason being single for so long has not been all that bad. ^_^

Sounds like fun, except for being wet for so long. I'd be tempted to go without clothes at all. :p

I agree with SeaJoy, you are naughty. :p but you are nice also. Probably a phase you are going through :) but that would definitly eliminate the wet clothes issue

You are a true outdoorsman, Jim!

The fishing was good...

Not as much as I used to be, but I do love nature.

I remember when I was a kid I would get physically ill having to sit in school all day when spring would come along.

When I first came home from Nam in 1969 it was January and very cold. We just had an apartment then. My wife is, or at least was quite warm blooded and she liked a very warm house. But I had big problems with having no fresh air, so the bed room window got opened up at night and she hid under the covers to keep warm.

Then some years later this came back on me. I think now that it was early stages of sleep apnea which I now have. Anyway we slept in a water bed at the time, but I had to have fresh air to sleep, so even in the middle of winter I would open the window right next to me. If she got cold and left me I would open it all the way and even stick my head out the window to cool off. Guess thats what you call a real "Hot head" It got so cold in there that there would be snow on the covers. My darling would have to put a throw rug in front of the door so I didn't freeze out the whole house.

I did this for years and finally said that was crazy, so I broke myself of that habit. We do still keep the heat pretty low at night though. Even my Darling likes that. I think she grew into my climate needs. We never turn the heat up over 62 degrees anymore, except when the Grand Babies come over, then it goes up a couple of more degrees and my sweat shirt comes off. I do still have problems getting cold enough to sleep though. Even my sleep Doc recommends a cold room to sleep in.

From what I have seen of church's that have a good sense of community seem to thrive well. Maybe find a way to get them even more community oriented than they are now. My fieldwork church is very community oriented and they have been around for 125 years. The church is located in the country and is surrounded by cornfields (quite literally). Rural is the best word to describe it, but the members are quite solid and really like to share their resources with others.

Our community is very Hispanic. And with all of the problems in town with illegals and so forth there is no real desire to do much in that direction. That makes our outreach directed to outside the city. I would love to esrablish a second location for services and Bible studies. I'm not sure of how to go about that. I've been in contact with our mission board which is among the best in the synod.
