And not uncommon here. One of our neighbors here down south drives a Till Construction (or something like that) van. :)

I heart B&Q and Wickes, but there can be no tent nor caravan squatting on the estate...sorry, Stude. There are a few full time residents there who would go crazy sending us e-mails!!!

The house is habitable and fairly clean; however, there are only two horses in the paddock right now if you're determined to sleep out of doors. ^_^

I don't EVER want to renovate another house, especially one that was inherited and had been flooded from internal plumbing leaks. I'm counting the days until we can pull out the offending header tank, but it could be a year or more before we can do that. :argh:
Sleeping out-of-doors is something I haven't willingly done for thirty years. Hence the Caravan. You're saying the house is available for occupation whilst being refitted? Let's see, a English country house, a few horses to play with, and a This Old House experiance... Tempting? I should think! Especially if there's a Carriage House.:love2: Not do-able though. I have a dog. So, you're off the hook.;)

Speaking of house renovation, that bathroom I'm doing? I have only to grout the bottom border and a few touchups and it's officially done. Lowes carries the grout. They're the only ones. So, that part of the job is held up by Lowe's silliness for three weeks. The customer's going nutz because they have this beautiful bathroom and can't use it.:argh: Even after I finish the grout, it'll be another week, poor fellow.

Hey, it was worth a try. :D

Mmmm... true, nothing ventured, nothing gained. However, here's another bee for your Easter Bonnet:;) Your cost would be a hundred dollars a day and my gas for the trip. Being that you're just about 2K miles from my place, that's about five hundred dollars (one way) for the gas alone!:hhh: Scary thought, innit?

I was being tongue in cheek, you know that - you know, just a stop on a virtual world tour.

Besides, if I was serious, anyone who knows us knows we are extremely generous to anyone who helps us with stuff regarding our house and yard. Free room and board, comfortable bed, 3 very entertaining cats who think they are dogs, some darn fine cooking (or all expenses paid trips to nice restaurants), a movie room with over 800 DVDs to choose from to watch on your own reclining chair (might include a purring cat on your lap while watching said movie), and all the beer or wine you want to drink in the lable you prefer (assuming I can get it), and free WI-FI access (and we could scrounge up a working laptop if you needed it as well).

LOL!!

While all genres and time periods are represented, our DVD collection is a bit heavy on action/adventure and science fiction from the last 30 years.

Weeding won't take more than 2-3 hours. It's a small garden. I'm just not good at it, and I hate weeding. I have the daylillies as an inheritance from my grandmother before her house was sold - so they could stay in the family. Some of the varieties are 60-70 years old and can't be found on any current list of varieties. The only reason they are still alive is because they are that old and have become rather hardy.

My dad, on the other hand, has become quite the daylilly person. He's going to help me next weekend when it's not raining. :D

It's interesting, Flipper, that you've a living inheritance from your Grandmother. I also inherited some Orchids from my Mother when she passed. Many have not survived the transition and moving around. Riverside (So. Cal.) was really hard on them. I still have a few. One of them has put out five or six spikes and is going to bloom in the next few weeks. Another has been blooming since just after Valentine's Day. A third is so desparate to be re-potted it broke it's pot. I'll have to get to that one this year.

Sadly for these poor plants, I'll never be the avid Orchidist my dear old Mum was. She had a twelve by twenty patio and when she died had over three hundred orchids on it. Some were as small as one's pinky nail. Others were huge Cymbidiums like one sees at OSH, Wally World, and the other stores. She had one Dendrobium-Phalaeonopsis that was a rich royal-purple. It had a soft velvety texture and bloomed faithfully every easter season. The poor thing hung in there for me only four years. those that have survived though really seem to like it up here on the mountain. They really seem to have appreciated the Greenhouse the past two years, too.

Thanks Flipper. My Uncle took the really large stuff, like the Cymbidiums. Still, that didn't cut down the count much. Sadly, like I said, I'm not the Orchidist Mum was. I'm down to about a dozen plants in all.:sorry::o The Greenhouse has been a God-send for them and for my Veg. garden. I'm thinking of putting the Tomatoes out this week. Maybe... mayyyyybe not. We'll see.

Sometimes, around here, it seems folks are more Catholic than catholic. Just my opinion. :sorry:
I should hope so!;)
But... Don't you mean "more catholic than Catholic".

 How so? If it's a matter of personal devotion and outward displays of reverence, I'm in the group that might be wrongly accused.

Not every practice the Roman Catholics maintain is improper. Unfortunately, one of the backlashes of the Reformation just made it fashionable to claim so.

I have a feeling Seajoy is referring to a thread that is discussing Eucharist Adoration- not Catholics practices in general.

nope...meant it the way I first wrote it, unfortunately.

Hmmm... I looked around and could only find my own thread about Revrence Where Revrence is due. I will admit to having a Catholic viewpoint. In fact, if one looks at Martin Luther's writings and letters he retained just such a way of thinking himself. In fact, when one is discussing the Euchrist, "I would rather drink blood with a Roman than wine with Calvin," (Martin Luther).

You ladies seem to have an interesting outlook on this and I, for one, would be very interested to hear what you think (in the proper place of course).

Shall we step into the next room?:)

Hey Flipper, here's a shot or two of my Dendrobium (the Oncidiums are already done):

these are kind of unusual among Orchids as they actually have a light scent. They also have a dewy kind of sticky nectar on them. I have to be careful of bringing them into the house because the ants love it. Kind of like Peonies.

Stude, I wasn't talking about your Reverence thread....I was talking about the elca/lcms personality thread. And you are right - it should be taken up in the other part of the forum. :)

Ah, I get it. Well, that's what I get for not reading that one (LOL)!;):p
