Sure was, Quilty!:) It was somewhat of a shock as to how much she looks like her mother.

Hey, how about this 'Wagon Train' I saw in Scotia:

I couldn't help but be a rank tourist (LOL), we even went through the Redwood tunnel:

And yes, I even bought one of the grossly overpriced Redwood burls!:p;)

I am fine. Busy with daughter's wedding in just over a week.

Another questions is: Where IS everybody?
My wife and I, along with a friend, went back to NE to drive back some of Johnsgal's cars. She also wanted to visit some friends. Going back we will all be driving separate vehicles. Missed all the tornadoes. I can live with that although we hit some torrential downpours north of Kansas City. Had the police blocking some parts of the Interstate that were flooded.

Glad you guys are ok. I was wondering about all those storms out there.

Well, Rad, at least you came out of the adventure with just a good story to tell.;)

Glad to see everyone home safe.:)

I love Trader Joe's too, Flipper. One of my favourite places to shop, as a matter of fact. In fact, I have to go in with just enough money to get what I need. Otherwise the place seems to hypnotize me and I end up spending way more than I should(LOL).:hypno::p

Wow they don't give you much room to spare, huh! I thought they had closed those tunnels cuz they were killing the trees- at least I heard that once upon a time- but obviously that was wrong!

Isn't Santa Rosa not too far from Yreka? (not sure if I spelled that right) We have an ELS congregation there and the pastor and his wife are friends of ours.

My husband is the same way with any grocery store, but worse at Trader Joe's, and even Whole Foods - I've made him stay in the car before. Men are as bad in the grocery store, as women are at a sale on shoes. :p

Whole Foods is a once in a while treat - I love the prepared foods, but soooo expensive.

And yo-se-my-tee too (LOL)!:p Eureka is two hundred miles north of Santa Rosa on CA 101. Yreka is three hundred miles north and two hundred miles east off of I-5.;)

Yes, many of the drive-through trees fell over. Most of those groves are now gone. In fact, most of the groves from Santa Rosa north to Scotia (about a hundred seventy-five miles) are gone as well. We lost three hundred miles of Redwoods before it was stopped. A hundred-fifty in just five years. A British investor bought one of the largest of the private reserves and started clear cutting in the late seventies. The family that owned it before him figured that with selective cutting, it would last them for three hundred years. The investor figured maybe thirty, at best. He actually had barges off the coast from China to cut the timber as the mills here couldn't handle the volume. The reaction was to stop all lumbering in this state. Now, it's so expensive, small property owners (less than a thousand acres) don't want to bother with it. The taxes take all the profit from the trees.

George pointed out to me that when the Redwoods were cut, it opened land for the Wineries to expand. That at least, was good for the state's economy.

Well, you forget... this is the People's Socialist Republic of California. We didn't get a choice. No trees are being cut. Per orders from the ruling council in Sacramento. Anyone who cuts any trees (regardless of type) is charged suffocating taxes.

The up-side is that we have really good wine, so... eat, drink, and be merry! For tomorrow the legislature will tax it all!:p

By the by, there's an ELS congregation in Ferndale. I saw the sign, I did, I did! George had a lot of fun making up slogans to match the initials.

Tell ya what, Sis, how's about I pour you wee cuppa and sit down with you for a few. I've got some really nice C.S. Sleepytime herbal. It's unleaded, so it won't keep us up all night and just might relax your tramautized toe and head.;) I mean, ya can't have tea without sympathy or sympathy without tea, right?

Can I have some of that tea, Stude? I'm lookin' for a bit of tea 'n sympathy as well.

Was in a car accident with Mike on Saturday. I took the brunt of the impact and, as God is SOO AWESOME, I've only bruising and some pain and a probable cracked rib. Mike is fine with just a few powder burns from the air bags. The other driver was at fault. She's 17 and failed to stop at a stop sign, failed to yield, left the scene and was found 1/4 mile away when her car stopped.

Ow.
