Aha, so the desert even with the snakes, spiders, scorpions, cacti, vast openness and stinging bushes is still safer? I knew it!!!

Having lived in the desert for 8 years now, I've seen one snake, no spiders of the "big" kind, things like Wolf spiders, Black Widows, Tarantulas, Brown Recluses, etc. I've seen about 100 scorpions, most of which were in my first apartment which was infested with the little beasties. The numerous cacti aren't dangerous unless you lean back into one. I actually saw a girl at ASU (Arizona State University) do that very thing. She just wasn't thinking, someone was taking her picture and she leaned back, right into a Saguaro cactus, my wife and I were both like "nooooo!" and everything went into slow motion, but there was nothing we could except wince in pain for her.

The other type of cactus that's "dangerous" is the one that jumps onto you as you walk by. It shoots little balls off of itself and sticks to you. Steve Irwin, got nailed by one when he visited Arizona one time. The last type of cactus that is dangerous is the one you crash into in your car. The vastness of the desert is disappearing. It's really getting developed and turned into businesses and residential homes at an alarming rate. So the vastness is slowly disappearing.

WHat's interesting about the Saguaro is how long they live. I visited someone in Scotsdale and they had one in their yard that was over 100 years old. They had installed some supports to help keep it up.

There was also a woody center from another cactus. I think it looked like a bush. Anyway I took the center and made a walking cane out of it. Unfortunately I left it out in AZ when I came back.

Oh yeah, I believe it too. The Saguaro doesn't even begin to sprout "arms" until they are 50 years old. My parents had to cut one of the arms off of theirs recently.

They had installed some supports to help keep it up.

Yeah, my wife and I had to do something similar to that a couple of years ago with our Ocotillo cactus. It had blown over due to a monsoon storm. We thought it was dead, but we propped it up and tied it to a nearby stop sign and it's still alive and green! LOL They're really amazing plants.

Oh, man that's too bad you left it here. But yeah, a cactus is mostly water but they are wood on the inside. I see alot of cactus wood out in the desert.

Ok, someone asked me who the pic was a few pages back when I was scoring Filo's fall (as a way to get him to laugh at his circumstances). I originally had a cartoon in there, but there was a HUGE copyright across it so I had to change it and this was the first pic I found...I have NO idea who those people are. I just found them on Google Images.

Filo, hope you're not hurting worse today!!!

Howdy, everyone. Thanks for the offers of healing meds... unfortunately I am not a tea or coffee drinker.

My head, arm, and upper shin on the right side hurt worse today - as expected. Advil and I are getting to be friendly. :)

But at least I can be up and around, working as needed (working from home has advantages!). A month from today will be my last day at the secular job (got a five month severance package!). Then April 1, I start full time for AALC. I begin visiting all our regions from April 1 to April 27. Willie Nelson and I will be "on the road again"! But I am so looking forward to full time work for the church body.
