  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Think I'll sit down here for a bit... (6)

Do you have pictures to share?
How many of the 350 or so do you want to see?

Started the week out in Taipei seeing the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial which some interesting things are going on there. Also saw Taipei 101, the tallest building.

Off to Chaiyi where Concordia Academy is and where the niece teaches. Visited her classes. Did some sight seeing, had lots of interesting and wonderful food with lots of wonderful people.

Attended Bible Study that is outreach and many people attend. Worship in Mandarin was fun (bulletin in Mandarin for the bulletin topic, which I could not read at all), Team Taiwan Bible Study, lots of fellowship.

Purchased lots of fabric to fuel my fabric/quilting addiction. At $3 a yard, well had to purchase lots.

Now, it it wasn't so long in an airplane, it would have been perfect. A total of 19 hours in coach is a long time. How many times does one have to go through security in a day? Well, it was 4 for us on Thursday.

When I get photos all loaded on the computer and sorted, I will post some, somewhere and let you know.

Yay!!! Good news, Kae. I knew you could do it. ;)

I would think some cranberry juice in his water couldn't hurt and what about yogurt? Our cat loves yogurt, so it might be good for his system as it is ours.

The Vet's going to call with the list of "extras" he can have. I tried the cranberry juice last night and he was rather unhappy that it was anywhere near him. *G* He's a picky boy. Yogurt used to be his special treat back when he was a kitten. I guess he got tired of it and wouldn't eat it so I haven't tried it again. I'll have to try that. Thanks!

How is Oscar doing today?

He's acting like a kitten. *G* Exploring the house as if we'd moved or something. Playing with the twins which is making them VERY happy. He really has perked right up. He's chewing on my toes right now. Goofy cat. :)

QuiltAngel! Man it sounds like an awesome time! (jealous :D) I can't wait to see pictures. Glad you're home!

Thanks QA!

He ate most of his new food...*I* sure as heck wouldn't have eaten it. It looks like liver paste and smells icky. BUT he munched on it until he realized that the other cats had the GOOD stuff. Poor kitten. He wanted their food badly so I had to scoop him up and put him in the bathroom to eat. He got most of it down...he gets a quarter of a can every day...and I gave him a treat of a splash of skim milk. He loved that.

Blessed Palm Sunday everyone!

YAY for Oscar eating most of his food! Our cat is having issues also..the vet said she has bladder infection and we have to give her antibiotics and behavioral pills as we figure her not using her litterbox is a combination of both of those problems. She's in a cage and I can actually here her sadly meowing right now..I certainly hope we can let her out soon..:(

``

On a brighter note..is it ever GOOOOOOOOD to be back in Milwaukee!! :D I'm SOOO glad band fest is over..nothing against Michigan, but their water fountains and pop were starting to get to me, and then there was the different time zone..plus I missed Palm Sunday at my home church..

So on the seven hour bus trip a few hours ago, we drove through Chicago in the dark. EVERYTHING is totally green (even the river I heard; no joke, they have lights in it or something.) because of St. Patrick's day. It's cool seeing the skyline in the dark.

Our band played really well. I ordered a professional recording on CD of the concert, so when it comes sometimes next month I'll upload it so ya'll can hear.

Anyways..good to be back on CF..these four days away were really dragging..

WElcome back breadalone.

I have my grandchildren here, they went to church with me, they had a potluck dinner and an easter egg hunt afterwards, when the 2 yr old would pick up an egg, if there wasn't anything in it, which most of them didn't, she'd throw the egg back on the ground. Had this retired pastor of this church ask me if the other church made a call yet, I said I have no idea. He goes I guess you've been here as much as you've been there. Another incident happened at that other church too.

Our church is holding a Seder meal on Tuesday, to explain the significance of Passover to the Jews, and lead into Maundy Thursday. I'm thinking of having Gem read that story in her Bible (she's so proud of her all-pink "big girl Bible" that she won't even open the children's Bible story books anymore). Then, we'll watch the plagues in The Ten Commandments as a visual reinforcement. The boy in the movie speaks the traditional Seder question "Why is this night different from all other nights?" usually asked by the youngest person at the meal, and starting the explanation of God's mercy and judgement.

Aww, thanks Zec! I LOVE that site. I may do that.

BA, I hope your kitty gets over the bladder infection soon. If he/she still has potty troubles, try some Feilaway. It's expensive but GOLLY does it work!

Oscar's still acting kittenish. He's going to be MAD at me tomorrow when I give the fluids again. But at least he gets over it quickly. *G*

Hmm..thanks for that. Sounds interesting; she's supposed to be taking pills for the purposes basically described in that product, but we can't get her to take two pills (antibiotics and the behavioral meds) without her throwing up..so that spray stuff might be usefull..

I think I may have posted this before, but here goes:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBxEPh7vj2U

I was looking for a version of that song to post here to show you guys, as we're using it as the theme for our mid-week Lenten services, and I thought it was cool and I wanted you to hear it.

So anyways, I find this version of the song on youtube, and thought it was just amazing. So I showed it to my dad, thinking it would be cool to show in church. He showed it to Pastor, and next thing you know they had plans to play it in church on Palm Sunday.

So they did play it, but neeless to say I wasn't there as I was at band fest. But my family said people were in tears. One elderly man told me today he choked up on account of it, and I was talking to Pastor today and he said that he was speechless at the end and pretty much just walked down the aisle out of church at the end. I really wish I could've been there..

So anyways, here it is for your guys' benefit! :)

Hi QA! It's always good to see you here.
Thanks seajoy and welcome back. How was your weekend?

Kae, I wonder if this product would work on a cat who likes to chew through cords. My daughter's roommate has a cat who likes to do that. It is going to get pretty expensive as he has chewed through 2 already.

My father had a solution for that... well, probably not the one the roomie would want. :D

It depends on the reason why the cat is chewing on the cords. They could try it. I'd recommend Apple Bitters for this problem though. Should be sold in pet stores and shouldn't be as expensive as the Feliaway.

BreadAlone, I'm wondering of which piece of music you're speaking. Your picture is a blank square with a multi-coloured square in the left corner. My youngest was in Band too. He really loved it.

As to the cat chewing cords, if the habit isn't broken, you may no longer have a house. More than one pet has burnt down a home that way. Personally, I wouldn't put up with it. My home is more important than a cat, bird, or whatever. If Apple Bitters doesn't work... Thankfully that's not my choice to make.

I've run into this problem with cats. Twice we delt with it successfully. Both quickly became barn cats. Both loved it. One of these queens decided she wanted to chew the wiring in the barn though. I caught her and thankfully had a large cage that could serve as a cattery. We kept her in it when she couldn't be watched. Thankfully she grew out of the habit over time.
