What do y'all have, Lambi?

My daughter was really sick 2 weeks ago with severe fever (to the point it made her sick to her stomach) and she's only just stopped coughing. One lady in our office was out for a week and had to have treatments for bronchitis. There is also a stomach virus going around and people are dropping out for a few days at a time!

I hope you and your daughter feel better soon.

What an interesting day we had yesterday. Cancelled church at the last minute cuz we got a report that even a road grader pushing snow went in the ditch, and with -35 (or more) windchills we didn't want our country folks to even try to come in.

I went to church extra early to shovel the sidewalk (the men were all working), plus I always practice before service. When we got the report from one of the guys (out working on the roads) that a maintainer went in the ditch, Pastor, his wife and myself all got on our phones to call everyone to cancel. (You can do that with a small congregation- or so we thought...). One family got in before we caught them- hopefully they weren't too upset to be told we were cancelling services - at least we caught them before they all got out of their car witht the little baby...

We started setting up the church for our soup supper next Thursday, and while we were working on that a couple that we did not know walked in the door - of course they were wondering if they were in the right place- what a day to pick to visit our church  .

By then Pastor was regretting the decision to cancel services. But he had an excellent opportunity to sit down with them and talk to them personally, get some background as to who they were and let them know all about our church. Maybe it was a good thing- they didn't get a chance to 'anonymously' visit then sneak out before Pastor got a chance to speak to them! Which sometimes can happen...

So maybe things do all work out - God certainly works in mysterious ways!

It DOES sound as if it was a good thing that the couple were able to have some one on one contact with the pastor :) Perhaps they'll feel very comfortable returning soon :)

Yes, I hope so too! As I was leaving, they were still there talking with Pastor and I made sure to let them know about our Soup Supper this Thursday, and invited them to come back next Sunday. At least they got to meet one member of the congregation, in addition to Pastor and Carolyn.

dropped 30+ degrees from yesterday -- not as severe as a week or 2 ago when it went from 73 to 28 in a day....

forecast is for snow & ice & cold & yuck tonight and tomorrow...
Only 38 days until Spring (according to the calendar). Only 38 days until Spring, only 38 days until Spring....

I was so scared..they were talking SEVEN MORE INCHES of snow this evening.. luckily they changed their minds. I would've been pretty upset if we had that much snow after that 17 inch storm last Wednesday. Crud, I don't think there's anywhere to PUT the snow anymore.

Look on the calendar for March 20--it says first day of Spring--we'll probably still have a foot of snow on the ground. Right now, it's snowing, school got out early today, and it warmed up all the way to 5 above zero today. My cats both have "February-itis", the very earliest sign of spring.

I think everyone has a ground-hog. Wiarton Willie says it's going to be an early spring. We have an early Easter, also an indicator of an early spring. It is Leap Year, Spring is always early, but miserably wet, as art the summers in a Leap Year. In Southern Ontario it is ALWAYS almost impossible to make decent dry hay in a Leap Year.

So... like last week Spring will come and go until June.
