Does that mean that my input is less important than someone elses because I don't have as many rep points as someone else? Based upon what? Based upon how many reps I give out?
But it's not based upon judgement of others. There are threads on this forum that are for the sole purpose of receiving Rep points. How is that judging? Their primary purpose is for people to get a higher rep total. Seems pretty vain to me. It's just a game.
"Does that mean that my input is less important than someone elses because I don't have as many rep points as someone else?"

No, it doesn't mean it's less important. It just means that someone may not have liked what you said enough to give you rep points for what you said.

"Based upon what?"

The opinion of the person giving the rep points.

"Based upon how many reps I give out?

Correct. It's based upon the judgment of other's comments.

"There are threads on this forum that are for the sole purpose of receiving Rep points."

That's sad. I didn't know that.

That is pretty vain. I think the rep system should be modified so we can also take away rep points when people say either stupid things or things we disagree with. Let's at least make it a two-way street. Oh, the fights that will lead to. LOL

The Conservative Christian Forum has negative reps.

Whoopty-doo. I don't really get the whole "Rep" thing. It just seems like a popularity contest. Those with more reputation points are more important or something? It just doesn't seem to fit with a Christian community.
Whoa am I in deep doo-doo. I'll never be able to face myself again.

You might not take it seriously but you have over 3 MIL reps.
I put the following question to the people in this thread. In your experience are there "rep snobs"? People who take pride in the fact that all their points or the majority of their points come from people repping their posts and not because they're a site supporter?

I think people do take is seriously as an indicator and the ones that don't get reps try to downplay it.

My opinion is that it fosters people and peer pleasers and not honesty. "I'll say what people want to here so I can be liked". I'm not saying the people that are honest don't get reps it just seems to lean more in the other direction.
Just my 2 cent's worth

When I first came to CF, I thought the Reps really meant something. It took FOREVER to get to my first 1000 reps before mine would add any points when I rep'd back. Now, newbies get rep'd swamped within the first hour and probably receive about 10,000 within the first day.

So, reps no longer mean that a person has a reputable voice on this board. To some it has just become a game and others a basic communication device to show that you like someone's post or someone appreciated yours. Numbers mean absolutely nothing.
