I want you feel better so you don't feel it necessary to come here and take things out on those who've done you no wrong.

I'm not taking anything out on anyone. Where do you see that?

Oh the cackling hen comment? I was just calling it as I see it. You would be as surprised as I was at who gave me rep points for that post, and a big thank you to that person. First time I ever got rep points from that person, I think.

The emotion I'm feeling is not anger, but disappointment. A lot of disappointment.

Praying that everyone will remember that the REASON we're all upset is because we want people to see Christ's love through right doctrine as opposed to "do what you want, say what you will" theology.

However, with the fighting...how is that happening? If we're busy fighting each other how can we fight the REAL enemy? Remember, A house divided against itself WILL fall.:(

I love you all and am praying night and day that God will continue to use our forum for GOOD.

Thank you very much for your reminder who we are how we are to behave and that we should look to the good of all, not just ourselves.

I think everyone will calm down now. We all get our feathers ruffled now and then. :)

Oh geez, it's like being at a family gathering with the cackling hens. Now how many different ways and in how many different threads can we say that we don't like some of the new rules?

Is there nothing better to do, like maybe some edifying threads, and real live fellowshipping?

Guys, just because you are absolutely right in your concerns, doesn't mean you have to get on a high horse about it. This board and especially TCL is what the regulars (that would be you) make of it. I've found in my career that sitting around and complaining doesn't solve the problems, and after awhile, doesn't make me feel any better either. I'm sure something similar applies here.

Oh no - some unsavory element might come in... I'm so scared!!!! Jeez Louise - how old are you? How strong is your faith? Really? Some of you are old enough to be my parents, and a couple of you, I kind look up to you with that kind of respect, and right now if you were my parents, I would be embarassed. People I look up to, stand up for and constantly defend their beliefs, and don't let potential "bad" people they may come across get them down. Now, who am I supposed to look up to now?

But, hey, if you don't want to look at this as the challenge and opportunity that it can present itself, go ahead and continue being a bunch of cackling hens. I certainly won't stop you. I'm only a "General" in jokes.
Old enough to be your parents????
I've been wanting to talk to you about this. I know it's a touchy subject but I think eveyone on here needs to know. I'm actually your grandfather! There------it's out in the open----I feel so relieved.

For me to compare someone to my parents or as a parent figure, even in age, is a sign of respect for their wisdom that only comes with age. Maybe that's why I want to adopt from China. There is a lot in Asian culture we can learn from, like equating age with wisdom.

I'm sorry you took offense, but I was saying that I look up to you.

BTW, I was very, very close to one of my grandfathers. I wasn't as close to the other one, but I admired him greatly for doing what he did with only a 9th grade eduction. They are both in heaven now.

Obviously, no one is getting what I'm saying, I'm not explaning myself well, and I'm causing nothing but trouble. I'll put a stop to it.

Thanks for the chicken picture, now I have a song virus...

*hums "Pick a little, talk a little" from The Music Man*

As to the changes, it's pretty chaotic right now, but it will settle. Having people who claim to be married or Christian on CF will be no different from those I know IRL who claim to be married or Christian, but aren't, by my definition. *shrugs* It's what they say and how they say it that matters in discussions, not what they claim.

They can claim to be purple princesses from Pluto, and even have spiffy bling-bling icons to denote it. Doesn't mean a thing if they don't act or talk like purple princesses from Pluto.

It's actually more like RL every day. I meet all sorts of people who claim to be nice, or good workers, or whatever... and by their interaction or work product they obviously aren't. I don't get mad about it. Why should I?

Not my yob, man. Not my yob.

Actually, this is not a new issue at all. Anyone could have at any time registered here and said whatever they wanted to. They could have claimed to be Christian when they aren't, claimed to be married when they aren't, claimed to be anything when they aren't. There never really was a way to police or legislate any of that.

Exactly. Now that we can focus more on what people are saying instead of who they are claiming to be, maybe we can moderate a little more consistently.

Hi, everyone, I'm back. Now to recuperate from my "vacation". We went to my in-laws for a few days for a family reunion. Hubby's brothers arrived late Thursday night. One spent all day Friday with his smokers and grill in the back yard (from breakfast to supper) cooking ribs for Saturday. Ribs for dinner, more ribs for supper. This is farm country--dinner is at noon. They were messy, but oh, were they good. Tiger got to spend the weekend with his cousins and their girlfriends. We met our nephew's fiancee. Hubby's other brother spent Friday working on some family history, and he managed to find some relatives no one had ever met before. He & my FIL invited them, so they came. Fireworks when it got dark. We were blessed with good weather--very warm, but at least there was a breeze, and even the little biting bugs weren't too bad. Then Tiger had a doctor's appointment on Monday--all was well. When we got home, we hadn't been home an hour when we got a call from a social worker begging us to take two little boys for overnight until the other foster family could take them. They were cute kids, but a little wild. Tiger had fun, but they were a little rowdy for his taste. Now they're gone and the house is sooo peaceful.

Tomorrow it's back to work so I can rest up.:D

True, but at least with the criteria and acceptance of understanding in place at registration there was a sense of trust. Now anyone new coming in will be suspect as we are all aware that they did not have to agree with the Biblical basics of Christianity.
I believe new posters will have a longer road to travel toward being accepted as genuine among established Christian posters here. There are vulnerabilities for everyone in place now that weren't there before and it breeds distrust.

But even before it was all voluntary. There was no exam or litmus test in place to see if everyone who claimed to hold to the Nicene Creed actually did when they joined. Only those who blatantly posted against it were found out to be dishonest with their registration. The only difference now is that each denomination's forum will be responisble to police it's own space.

I agree it invites an element that may not have ventured in here in the past, though. It just makes our job a bit tougher.

I do feel bad for any new members who will be honest with their answers or such when they register. Because any new member will be suspect, will we find ourselves being overly critical of what they write? Then they will wonder what kind of place they found themselves in.

It does seem we will be able to keep our rules here and things will probably be pretty much the same, other than new members will be suspect.

Kind of like when we fly, we are all assumed to be terrorists until we prove otherwise. New members will probably be looked upon as nonbelievers or nonLutheran until they can prove otherwise.

Maybe in time, we will be able to relax and put our guard down.

Just a few of my thoughts here.

Hi latebloomer,
Glad you had a good time away. Glad to hear that Tiger's checkup went well. Don't know where you were for the weekend, but we were due west at the state line this last weekend and it was HOT. I am really enjoying the cool down we are having.

Yep---I know----It's even a weirder thought for me. I'm not the mod type------even when I was a supervisor I would usually leave the guys to their own devices. They sometimes knew what to do better than I did. I'm not big on rules I'm just big on protecting our TCL home.
