Set off the smoke alarm at one point though LOL ;) had to "brown" some flour in the oven and the smoke alarm didn't like that!

You know, deary, that the food is done before that particular buzzer goes off. ;) ^_^

Speaking of beautiful weather, it's breezy and upper seventies today. Hard to believe that we had snow just a few days ago. Wonderful Kiting weather today! Wish I still had my Maui kite.

I finally got both cars going again today. Don't know how long it'll last... But at least I'm mobile for now. I think I'll work on my friends RV this evening. Just don't feel like moving chores. Of course, that means another month's rent, but oh well.

Dearie, your'e supposed to brown the flour, not blacken the flour. Sigh, it's a delecate timing thing. Then again, smoke alarms are terribly rude critics. Can't tell you how many times I've made mine scream in agony(LOL).:help:

You ladies ever make your own 'Master Mix'? I've found that Bisquick has been bothering me, so I've started making my own. Sure glad I took that class with Mrs. Utley in the ninth grade! Here it is, um, well... a lotta years later,:o and her recipies are coming in handy, still!;) :D

Oh, trust me, guys, it was brown not burnt. It's just that the place where the smoke alarm is, near the attic opening, any smoke or heat goes right to that location and sets off the smoke detector. I need to remember to cook with the exhaust fan running!

You know, my Mum used to have a smoke alarm in the stairwell that would go off if the bathroom door was open whilst one was showering. Really annoying to be halfway through a shower and the silly thing going off. Even more annoying was mum shouting up the stairs, "Oi, close the bloody door!"

Seajoy, sometimes I have a great deal of trouble seeing round my own plank.:sorry:

Anyone here ever try Coconut Oil shortening? I'm trying it out (gasp, choke, expeeeeensive:sick: ), because the others have soybean oil in them.

So many folks in TCL tonight, but nobody is talking? We are staring at each others names, I guess.

Or maybe everyone is reading threads...like I should probably be doing...but I'm too lazy tonight to go back and read stuff I already read. :sigh:

Wow...this post makes no sense at all  , I better go to bed early tonight.

Thinkg ytpically slopw down when nice weather arrives, but you can keep things going by just coming with an interesting topic. For instance a new theological topic or new things happening at your church. Sorry, I'm not good at starting conversations either, can you tell?

Mmm.. coffee... *Homer Simpson voice*

coffee_roaster.jpg

I had a very fun, productive weekend. Did errands with Gem, got to go to the library, got half my dining room carpet cleaned (cat keeps spraying the baseboards on that side *sigh*), finished all my laundry.... AND eased Gem further into neighbor social interactions.

We've been rather isolationist, and don't like her playing out in the front yard, so she knows a few neighbors, but not many. When we went for a walk on Saturday, we stopped by a house that had a little girl Gem's age playing outside. We've waved at her before but didn't know her. Before I knew it, the girls were playing in the backyard together. Her family is Hispanic, so there was a bit of a language barrier, but I was able to ask if Gem could stay here and play a while, and to point out where we lived (three houses down on the right). So she had some play time and made a new friend. Then after church on Sunday she wanted to ask another friend on the other side to come play, so I walked out with her and watched her cross the street and go to their door. Soon, we had Desiree over playing in our backyard with Gem. It was a first, on both counts (her playing at Daniella's and Desiree coming over to play). Before this we did "play dates" that were set up ahead of time.

Morning!!

I have a tub refinishing guy here today to reglaze our tub! Finally! I'm hiding out here this morning LOL I'll probably be around most of the morning...popping in and out of this thread. :)

Does anyonehere know anything about those bath tub re-fits, like Bathfitter or Re-bath or any of those, where they come in and basically put a bath tub shell over your existing tub and install new surround?

The tub here in the parsonage is absolutely gross and I can't get it clean. The church can't afford to re-do the bathroom here and neither can I. I was just wondering if those re-fits were expensive and even worth it.
