She probably won't understand but it might get through that you don't have to keep the letter of the law because you have to. You try to do what God wants you to do because you want to because He saved and loves you. Grace and mercy are there in case you screw up your life.

:sigh:

You're right Rad. She doesn't understand. She thinks I'm copping out. Yeah, I pointed out that the leagalism she was espousing is exactly what Paul refers to the Judeisers doing in the early church. She doesn't get it. I think the only solution to save any friendship is distance.

Paula's latest reading assignment (the one I couldn't remember earlier); The Pursuit of Holiness, by Jerry Bridges. I've only got so far as beginning the first chapter, but it sounds like a treatise on Piety.:sigh: Add to that it has her notes and highlighting all over the place. I hate reading books that are all marked up.:sigh:

Ctay, my children wouldn't drink the electrolyte solutions available in the stores, like Pedialite. So we used to give them their choice of Gatoraide. It has the electrolytes and other trace minerals you need and it tasts good. Pick a flavour any more!;)

Legalism is huge in my family. Your friend should meet my father .

Here's a couple of his latest:
"The devil has a hold of my cousin because she still smokes."

"Can't have a Christmas tree because pagans of the old testament had trees in their houses."

Christ took care of all this for us. We can never keep the law. Thank you Jesus for saving us!

"Can't have a Christmas tree because pagans of the old testament had trees in their houses."

History.com said:
Germany is credited with starting the Christmas tree tradition as we now know it in the 16th century when devout Christians brought decorated trees into their homes. Some built Christmas pyramids of wood and decorated them with evergreens and candles if wood was scarce. It is a widely held belief that Martin Luther, the 16th-century Protestant reformer, first added lighted candles to a tree. Walking toward his home one winter evening, composing a sermon, he was awed by the brilliance of stars twinkling amidst evergreens. To recapture the scene for his family, he erected a tree in the main room and wired its branches with lighted candles.

you should show THAT to your family........

Thanks BA.......there's no talking to him...trust me...he's way worse than any teenager I ever came across! :D

My parents aren't Lutheran, by the way.
yeah that's what you said. someone said to me that the Christmas tree was a heathen tradition but I was taught in school that Martin Luther had something to do with it so I went and looked it up. I was right for once . (Just Kidding I'm ALWAYS right!! lol :) )
