Its like your trying to fit in a social club instead of everyone trying to work together for God. I'll probably go back to my old church after VBS is over with at the end of may
Like I mentioned to you in another thread...my husband and I left a church like that a year ago. We just couldn't take that kind of attitude anymore.

We feel so blessed to be where we are now. Christ is the center. :)

Sometimes the rudest ones are the ones we need to show love to the most. It's difficult, I know (trust me!) but it does indeed work in their heart when the Holy Spirit moves from us to them.
Very true.........we really tried that, but one can only take so much stress when going to church. When church is the most stressful place you attend during your week, it's time to move on, and just pray for them.
We prayerfully considered our move to the new church. The whole thing was very hard on my husband...it was easier for me when we left.

we had a HUGE ordeal about 10 years ago -- a group of 18 people came up with a long list of things that others were doing "wrong" (it was petty things that had no bearing on doctrine or truth) -- the people they blasted are still at our church, the complainers are gone...

About 20 years ago I was serving a dual parish, and the one decided to move to LW from TLH. I had done it already in another church and knew that it would take appropriate planning and preparation for the congregation. I wrote in the newsletter every month about worship, liturgy, etc. We practiced many parts of the liturgy, the choir led our practices (right before services started).

Right at the beginning of the process, one couple asked to have me visit them. They were SO irrate about the new hymnal: "Why can't we stay with the truly Lutheran TLH! It is part of who we are!!" Any words I spoke fell on deaf ears. They gave me an ultimatum: "Either give up this 'non-Lutheran LW' or we will leave this church."

Well, of course, they weren't in Bible study, they hadn't attended any kind of Catechetical instruction in 50 years... Anyway, threats don't do too far, and they left.

A few months later I saw them in town and asked where they were attending worship. "Oh we found a very nice church home. Just what we were looking for - they don't have any worship wars. The Baptist church on the other side of town." :D

Good thing they found a solid Lutheran liturgical service!! ^_^

In Christ's love,
filo

oh, ours did not leave on their own accord -- after months of meetings (including with the district prez!) -- they were "removed from fellowship" -- they were suppose to repent to our pastor/church about their wrongs before they could attend/hold membership in another WELS church -- i know of 2 of the families that are WELS members in other towns, no repentance, nothing (and one was a family that said "i will never join another lutheran church again")
