Yes, I contributed my nickel to the Museum, no I've never been there yet, and I stress yet. However, I find it interesting that the city is going out of their way to erase any other vestige of a company that supported their community for over a hundred years. The bitterness of the automotive division's demise is still alive and well in South Bend.;)

Oh cool. . . my company and I worked on the building of the museum. . .

Glad to see you back, Sis! You make your little journey across the lake sound like it was just a short hop. In reality, it's comparable to crossing the English channel to Calais! Often it's a rougher crossing too! I do hope yours was all smooth water and beautiful clear skies.

Well, the heat caught up with Fawn Lodge. The back half of the house was rather warm at six AM. I opened the kitchen and bathroom windows then turned on the fan. Hopefully that will do the job. If I have to open the whole house up, it'll make me miserable with the pollen and such.

There is a good strong breeze making the trees sing and their branches wave and dance though. Days like this give one insight where Tolkien and Lewis got their inspiration for the 'Talking Trees' in their books. Though the woods around here are pretty tame.;)

I would steer way clear of the ones that try to combine religion and politics, as some of the ones I see there are clearly confusing the two kingdoms.

There is a young Lutheran artists who is doing some very nice work, in a realistic style which I prefer, who I really like.

Unfortunately, I can't remember his name, and I can't seem to find any of his paintings on google. I know that there are really nice ones of the triumphal entry, and of Noah and the ark, but for the life of me I can't find them.

Are you thinking of Tom duBois? We have the Hosanna print and I would like a few more of them.

Christian Fine Art by Tom duBois

Yes! Thank you.

We have a poster in one of the Sunday school rooms of a picture he painted depicting the Trinity with angels and such, with Jesus on the cross and the HS all flowing downward to a Baptismal scene of a pastor baptizing the baby of a young couple.

It's a beautiful painting, but I've never seen it on the internet.

How about my special meat loaf (secret is; hot breakfast sausage in the mix), fresh organically grown string-beans (straight out of the garden), Red Rose potatoes (also straight out of the garden), and a nice salad? Then again, I could use the tuna in the cupboard and just make a nice cool tuna salad, with fresh red Bell Pepers, Brandywine Tomatoes, green onions and baby broccoli, as it's just a touch muggy here today. We could top off the salid with my own home-made Italian Parmesean dressing.

How's that sound?

Gee, wish I had the money to do a bed and breakfast type place. It'd be nice to do this kind of thing every day.:)

Ach, Kobe beef. A very rare commodity around here.;) Sorry to say, out of my budget. Welcome to the Seajoy's Kitchen Tomo_Tsu. Draw up a chair. We often have a wee cuppa and biscuits. You're welcome to join us as often as you like.:)

Got a newer truck for the hubby using the money from the insurance company as a down payment and the old truck as trade. The newer truck also has hail damage but it runs great. His old truck was about to lose the ball joints (and he already dropped in more to fix it than what it was worth).

He's SO incredibly happy now. Since we put so much down, the payments are less than the first car he ever got.

ctay, if you don't mind, I'd like to ask you a question or two. Any other Southern Lutherans please feel free to chime in.

In a year or so we will be moving several states away to Kentucky, a state that is quite a bit to the north of yours, but still considered to be Southern. While it is not in the Deep South like Alabama, the culture is still pretty Southern. (I know because my Mom is from Louisiana and the culture seems to be pretty similar).

Here in Kansas there are not an overwhelming number of Lutherans, but some of our small town churches still have several hundred members. I see that almost all the LCMS churches in the rather large suburban area to which we will be moving are very small, with 50 or so members on the books - and the larger ones with 100 or so members are also the ones with contemporary services and the like which I would shy away from.

Then you have the whole "Lutherans floating in a sea of Baptists" thing. At least in our present area there are quite a few Catholics, so the religious landscape isn't nearly as monotone as it typically is in the South.

What has been your experience as a Lutheran living in the South?
