Soy is good for you, but I didn't realize people had allergies to it. Sorry to hear that, Stude.

I drink at least one soy protein shake a day, made with soy milk. It got rid of my hot flashes and I'm 100% certain it hasn't negatively affected my sexual orientation. ;)

Soy does have estrogen like compounds (which is why it works for hot flashes)...I do wonder what would happen if a man ingested too much. :p

I drank Soy milk for years until I started to look at the lipstick in the ladies makeup section and was getting cranky in the TCL forum. Those spike heels were looking good for awhile to. Now I'm getting better and got rid of the pumps and designer purse.
:blush::blush:

Started drinking milk again and watching John Wayne.

You know, anything artificial seems to have some kind of side effect. The soy products are chief among those artificial foods that are I think, the most evil. Then again, it doesn't do to most people what it does to me.

Ever have a day where everything goes wrong? Not disastrously wrong, just not well? I started out today to cook a turkey. At first things went swimmingly. Didn't have onions or celery so I went to town to get them. I was going to get some gas for the Rototiller also. So, I put the rice in the steamer set the stove and left.

Got to the gate and realized I had six dollars in my wallet. Had to go back to the house to get money for gas.

Got to town and picked up what I needed and came home. Since I forgot the Gas Can, no gas for the tiller.

So, chopped up the veggies. I got the onions and celery glace'd and the Mushrooms browned, then added in the steamed rice. When I went to find the Poultry Seasoning... none. I had three of the little buggers and George had two! I couldn't find one of them! So, back to town for Poultry Seasoning.

Getting ready to go I noticed that my wallet was not in my pocket. Aw... phooey! I left it on the self-check machine! So, off I go to town to get the seasoning and my wallet.

About a quarter mile from the store I noticed the truck's motor was rattling. Looking at the gauges told me that it was insanely overheated and about to quit. I looked in the mirror and noticed a con-trail of steam behind me. GREAT! It stalled at that point and I just put the truck into neutral and glided into the store's parking lot. Oi.

Glad I shop in Weaverville. They had my wallet. So I got the seasoning and went out to the truck. I opened the hood so that the engine would cool and went to subway for a sandwhich. Moseyed back to the truck and put the sandwhich inside, taking the dogs out. Put leashes on the dogs and took them back to the patio outside the Starbucks in the Grocerystore. Since it was going to take an hour or so before I could do anything with the truck, I put the Girls on down-stay and got a Starbucks, going out to sit with them and kill some time.

Weaverville is a nice place to sit, do nothing, and kill time. The Alps are beautiful to look at with their mantle of snow.

Well, after a while I took the Girls back to the truck and put them back in (sandwhich safely zipped in a cooler bag) and closed them in the back seat. Proceeded to fill the truck back up with hot water from the store's break room.

Did you know Toyota's have coolant routed through the throttle body? Oi. The problem was a coolant hose the size of a pencil which had slipped off and vented all the coolant. Oi.

Well, water in the truck, I started it up and headed for home. No trouble on the trip home.

No time to bake the bird, so stuffed it, basted it with butter, and put it in the fridge for tomorrow. The excess stuffing is currently baking with carrots, Celery, Turkey neck, and innards. They should be done shortly.

What a day.

What a day.
Why would they route the coolant thru the TBI? Never heard of that.

I'm watching a John Wayne movie right now. "The Horse Soldiers"

I should be cleaning out the SUV. We are leaving for WI, and then on to MN, on tuesday. I last thing I feel like doing is crawling around in a hot car, on this humid day, with my fibro.

Stude, I don't think soy is artificial. Foods made with soy come from the soybean of which I see lots of those outside my window each summer.

I am not able to have soy because of what Mel said about the estrogen like effects and the type of cancer I had.

Good question! My husband won't touch it, so I'll have to leave that research to someone else.

Vitamin E helps tremendously, too, Mel, as does magnesium. Odd how the right combo of natural supplements can make a difference. I may well have to go on HRT, but I'll do kicking and screaming....unless I'm convinced it might help me keep weight off easier. :D

Stude, I hate to be cliche, but having a woman to stock your kitchen every so often might not be a bad idea. We're also pretty good at reminding you guys not to forget the little things....over and over, if necessary, which is sometimes rudely misconstrued as nagging.

Unfortunately, it does tend to train us to be overly reliant upon others to remember things for us (not that it's the fault of the "others") and can lead to relationship problems when taken to an unhealthy level.

Believe me.

And now for something completely different: A thoroughly Lutheran definition of sanctification.

Until the last day, the Holy Ghost abides with the holy congregation or Christendom, by means of which He fetches us to Christ and which He employs to teach and preach to us the Word, whereby He works and promotes sanctification, causing it [this community] daily to grow and become strong in the faith and its fruits which He produces.

Sigh, ladies... you have to keep in mind I don't own the house I live in. It's not even a rental. Thus, my kitchen supplies, such as my spices, are in plastic bins. Like I said, there should have been five small containers of the stuff here. Sadly, with a roomate/landlord who uses whatever he likes, then leaves it wherever he likes, things disappear. I too, have a tendency of getting impatient with the horrendous mess that results from his cooking for several days, and end up gathering the mess into the trash without doing much sorting. It's usually such a gross mess that it wouldn't do any good. So, those containers might have been in the last cleanup bag that was on the burn pile last month. It's a waste, but the mess is worse. The new one is safely tucked away in the bin. There was a day when I could simply do an inventory of the cupboards and pull out everything I needed for a recipie before even starting it. Not anymore.:sigh:
http://www.mysmiley.net/free-tongue-smileys.php

That reminds me. I need to bake bread today.

The bird is currently residing in the oven. She was a bit smaller than I thought. Somewhat skinny too. I have to talk to Paula about paying attention to what she buys again. Paula has a tendency of reading the weight and not looking at what she buys. Oi. Ah well, at least it won't take so long to cook.;)

I'll check on it shortly as it's been in an hour now. Have to make sure it's venting properly.

Porter, the result of men ingesting progestrone is decreased sexual performance, deformed genitals and effimate behaviour. Not good. Also weight gain in the belly and buttocks combined often with thyroid damage.

Also, soy milk is not a natural food. There are a variety of processes that are necessary to produce the product. I'd get off the soy if you're trying to lose weight. That's what we feed to cattle to make them GAIN weight! Ask any farmer in Texas.;) so, if you want to reduce the bum and hips, get rid of the soy protien shakes.;) They have a tendency of sticking around.
