With goats and sheep for lawnmowers you always have an option of putting them to ultimate use in the kitchen if they don't work out, but with horses not so much. Mini horses are pretty cute, though.

Actually, the sheep are good for the grass. The goats are worthless there. They actually don't eat it unless there's nothing else. Goats are browsers. Hence the reason they completely destroy the garden when they get in. Horses will browse, but they're more like the sheep, they love grass. It would be fun to let the minis join the herd. Only I don't know if it would work. George's goats and my sheep are a pretty rough lot. And the males are... how do I put this politely... opportunists? Besides, as wild as the country is around here, I'd be afraid they'd kill themselves.

Just as I predicted, to herald the start of hurricane season, it started raining today at 4 pm. Happens every year on june 1 withouut fail.

Actually out here in the PSSRC we usually get June Gloom. Overcast and muggy. Thankfully, it's relatively cool, so the mugginess is tolerable. Today, it's patchy clouds and occasional downpours with the temps in the low fifties. It does amaze me how far a pine and fir tree can sway from side to side without breaking. The forrest is very active today.

I miss the forest, Stude, especially the smells, other than that of wet goat. We have woods, but not too many forests as experienced in the US. Enjoy the cool temps and rain while you have them. The alternatives are far less comfortable.

One thing I don't miss is your humidity. Believe it or not, it's not bad, probably because there's enough breeze to move it across the land and on its way to the continent. When the winds do calm down, the days are almost perfect. It makes my flowers happy. Things are blooming and growing like crazy and that makes every day a bit nicer. :)

Four years ago, we were in central Florida. As we were driving back to Orlando from Tampa, we were in a very heavy downpour that never let up, intense all the way. I jokingly asked when was the start of hurricane season. We got back to hotel and my son went online and replied that that day was the start of the tropical storm season and we just drove through tropical storm (whatever it's name was).

Your mention of that Mel reminded me of that day.

When I lived in San Francisco, June was always very foggy and quite cool. I loved it. We usually didn't get anything approaching summer weather until October.

LOL, does San Fransisco ever get anything approaching normal summer weather???^_^ Never saw it in the early sixties. Then again... since when is anything about San Fransisco normal?:p

Wet goat, wet dog, I don't know which is worse! Scotland has some evergreen forrests, as I recall Porter.

Yeah, in the thirty-five years that I was trapped in So. Cal. I would dream about the sights and smells of the northern forrests I loved as a child. It brought tears to my eyes when I stepped out of the realtor's car and smelt the Forrest for the first time in all those years. Then came the singing of the trees... beautiful. Nothing quite compares with it. I just wish the state government was a bit different. Otherwise, it would be perfect here. Sadly, Lucifer runs this state...

If the Lord is gracious he will allow me to stay here the rest of my years, or till he returns if that comes first. Then again, if he wishes it and plants me somewhere else like this, I could likely be just as happy there. Just as long as the trees sing and it's at least twenty miles from a city.;)

Ah.....the pine smells in Colorado in the early morning and the bubbling of the mountain streams with the melging snow. My--- I miss that. When we were in Montezuma CO in the summer we were free of bugs and snakes because of the altitude. .......Although you had to watch out for blue lips when you first got there. It was a quaint, secluded town with hardly any residents untill they built Keystone right down the road.

Blue Lips? Oxygen starvation? What elevation is the place at?

I'm ready to go camping, our camper is still in the shop, been there almost 2 weeks, we may have to call tomorrow and check to see if they've even looked at it. There's a couple of National Forests here in Alabama. We usually go camping in Bankhead National Forest

We have our RV in the shop also. Summer is the best time of the year for repairs when all the ankle-biters and their parents are flooding the highways. May, last two weeks in August, September and part of October are the best time of the year for traveling. Othewise everything is too crowded.

One thing I like about the campgrounds in the forest, the lots are a little spread out, so if they are full you do have space and they don't seem full.
October is nice to go when the leaves are changing.

the top of grand mesa is 10,000-11,000 feet above sea level.... ^_^ i'm going to watch him very carefully and make sure he doesn't get blue lips..... ;)
