The people who say "I don't care" have no interest in watching history. It annoys me.

I think it has to do with differing definitions of what history is.

Now I'm with you I will probably catch a taped rerun of it or something don't get me wrong.

But I also understand the position of not watching it. Mostly because the royality being figureheads of the United Kingdom with little actual power . . .

I think a lot of people have the problem of "What makes these people so special?" And if these people are fair or reasonable they are probably the same people that don't much care about any celebrty's private life.

So I totally understand someone who's completly un interested. Because I can totally understand how a marriage in a figurehead royal family isn't exactly making history.

You are welcome Seajoy.

I don't care about watching the royal wedding. I will probably catch videos online somewhere.

I am paying attention to the Endeavor shuttle launch. This is the final flight for Endeavor and the next to last shuttle flight ever. Also, Congresswoman Giffords is in attendance for her husband's mission. This brings an end to the era of the shuttle missions. I remember when they began and how exciting it was.

So, I am not interested in the history of the royal family, I am interested in the history of our space program.

Welcome, deedee. Just jump right in there! It's been almost 5 years since I was a newbie here. It's always a little tough getting started - but this is my online family, and I'm sure you will feel the same.

Well - here I am, wide awake for the big royal wedding. My beagle is staring at me like I'm nuts. ^_^

Shuttle launches, the Berlin Wall coming down, the coverage of the massive storms that hit down south, THAT is history. The "Royal Wedding" is entertainment, nothing more.

I fear we've lost most if not all committment to our manned space program. I don't know what the next step is suppose to be on this, but it isn't anything that looks terribly exciting.

we're too busy fighting other people's wars for them to pay attention to something like the shuttle program.

I'm still confused by the whole thing: are they actually grounding ALL shuttles or just a particular group of them? They keep using the term "fleet" which I take to mean the entire lot of shuttles. I keep feeling as though we're never gonna send up a shuttle again, but I'm sure that's wrong.

PW, the end of the era of shuttle flights will end in June when the last one is launched. After that there will be no more shuttle missions.

President Bush made some kind of direction to end the shuttle program and President Obama upheld this. The focus is going to be more on exploring the planets further away from us and to develop commercial space travel.

I think it is a bad move on our part if you ask me. I am more acutely aware of this as the space program has totally fascinated my oldest son. He is down there now for the launch. He purchased tickets to it so will be closer in than those trying to catch a glimpse of it from surrounding neighborhoods and highways.

I have witnessed the space program from early on and stayed up to watch Armstrong step onto the moon's surface. I have visited Cape Canaveral twice.

So many things have been developed thanks to the space program. It is going to hard to imagine life with this new approach.
