PW, the end of the era of shuttle flights will end in June when the last one is launched. After that there will be no more shuttle missions.

President Bush made some kind of direction to end the shuttle program and President Obama upheld this. The focus is going to be more on exploring the planets further away from us and to develop commercial space travel.

I think it is a bad move on our part if you ask me. I am more acutely aware of this as the space program has totally fascinated my oldest son. He is down there now for the launch. He purchased tickets to it so will be closer in than those trying to catch a glimpse of it from surrounding neighborhoods and highways.

I have witnessed the space program from early on and stayed up to watch Armstrong step onto the moon's surface. I have visited Cape Canaveral twice.

So many things have been developed thanks to the space program. It is going to hard to imagine life with this new approach.

Meh I really wish I could see the last shuttle launch as I've never seen one before. But I just don't think we could make it down to Florida in June. Oh well

I had a very strong interest in the space program when I was a kid as well. I many times found myself wishing I had been born in the 50's so that I could have seen the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs.

Now THAT was some history!!

Meh thats nothing compaired to a lot of things. The American rebellion, the Napoleaonic wars, the war of Southern Treason. . .

And thats just what I would consider "semi-recent" history. (Within the last 300 years, which historically speaking is a very short period of time.)

watched the wedding today with pastor's wife - it was just lovely, really really lovely - and the thing that she and i were absolutely ecstatic over, was how VERY Christ-centered the whole ceremony was.....wills' mother would be extremely proud of her son....

sigh - and now i can go to bed happy.....talked with my love for an hour, even though he was exhausted.....happiness is hearing his voice on the phone.....

good night, TCL - sweet dreams.....

Except that Will and Kate have been living together for the better part of a decade. So from one standpoint, it is good that they are no longer living in sin.

How do you know that they weren't secretly married quite a while ago and have only now just made it official? These things do happen, you know.;) Be careful of what you read in the media. Neither the Tabloids nor the 'legitimate' media are very accurate when it comes to the celebs.

I'm generally one of those who finds most celeb news yawn-worthy. The British Crown has indeed been stripped of its power to rule. They still reign however. It's a small consequence that they are unable to do as much as they used to. The marriage of Will and Kate is still history. I would have stayed up to watch if it were possible. At the very least, it was good entertainment. Unfortuneately, there is no TV reception here and I don't have cable. So, no wedding up here on the mountain.

It is time that the Shuttle programme was retired. The fleet is aging and it's time the equipment was replaced. However, I think it a shame that we are wasting the money and our children on policing the world. Yes, we can send a bill. a year to Egypt, among other countries, and yet we're telling our seniors that they must do with less in the Social Security system they've been forced to pay into all their lives. Our government has been scamming us since the forties and is only now revealing the truth of the sting. It sickens me that our government is willing to throw away money to everyone but their own people. This was illustrated by the recent news release from the White House saying that we need to get all those Egyptian protesters work (employment). What about all the people in this country who'd like to have a job? After all, if we don't work, who's pocket is Congress going to pick in order to have money to squander?:sigh:

The thing that angers me most about the constant squabbling about the budget is that no-one is bringing onto the table all this "foreign aid" that's getting poured down a rat-hole. Not to mention the insane amount of money that goes to the U.N. You know... if we suffered as serious a disaster as Japan is currently dealing with, I seriously doubt anyone would come to our aid. Foreign aid indeed... we need to elect Representatives and Congressmen who care more about our country. Screw the Global economy! Our own people are much more important.

I about cried just over that. It's a VERY refreshing change from typical ceremonies.

Well it's so hard to not be disgusted by any of their posts...

darn near impossible, i'd say....absolutely NAUSEATING.....

on top of the usher that passed away on tuesday, we found out this morning that our church secretary's mother and aunt (sisters) passed away this morning within hours of each other.....lots of sadness at church this week.... :( i'm filling in i think monday/wednesday/friday for the secretary, answering phones, fielding questions, etc.....

but on the up side - Rev is home safe (albeit exhausted), so i can relax now - and semi-patiently wait til tonight so he can fill me in on the amazing weekend!! :D

You know, I decided to stay out of TCL some months ago as it seemed that the E*CA group owned it. This has been borne out again this week. When will I ever learn? Sometimes I think sticking with the Horse forums would be a better place. At least I don't blow my top reading the posts. The sophestry, specious arguments, and nihilism are enough to... ah! carrying on an intellegent conversation with those people is impossible. They would rather believe in the lies of men than the truths of the bible. Ah, ah, there I go again! I need to keep out of TCL.

Good night everyone.:sigh: May the blessings of our Lord and the good prayers of all christendom go with all of you. :crossrc:

Shhhh....we didn't realize anyone outside Britain was aware of that. ;)

Their marriage seemed to be inevitable, but I have to admit that the positive effect on the country has been quite remarkable so far. Let's hope it continues and that Britain's young women look to Pr Catherine's demeanor and maturity as a role model, as opposed to the reality stars they've been emulating for the last decade.

I'm just happy the parties have ended! Our neighbors have really been having a good time with all the excitement and I've never spent so much time with so many of them, so it's been good, but I think I've had enough wine and champagne to last until Pr Harry's nuptials. :p

I suppose it's only right, though, that we now reciprocate with some sort of gathering to express the end of OBL's reign of terror. Sad thing to celebrate, but I will admit I do feel a sense of relief, but I imagine our shopping trips into London may be delayed for a week or two.
