A flying drone with infra-red and thermal vision cameras would have easily been able to see Routh hiding there at that fence. The Secret Service protection details should be consistently and constantly using the technology available with drones.

If the Secret Service ever has an opening for a PR position, you should apply, you would be great. Despite all of your excuses for their failures there are severe problems within leadership. Even liberal Democrats are beginning to question. You need to catch up to them.

The incompetence in both assassination attempts was the failure in allowing the two wannabe assassins in getting within what was supposed to be a very secure site.

I can't help but wonder....had Biden been the one golfing, and had the Secret Service found the guy before he did anything and detained him, would the right wing be loudly criticizing the Biden administration for denying a citizen's constitutional right to peaceably assemble in the woods near a golf course?

That does sound like a problem. If there was a first parameter check which failed though, they did check the area before Trump actually golfed there. I don't count it as a failure when I'm doing QC and I catch things on the last check.

By using flying drones with infrared and thermal vision cameras, the Secret Service would have seen Routh waiting for Trump long before the former president was too close to the shooter. The Secret Service got lucky because one agent on the ground happened to see the muzzle of that rifle poking through that fence.

When a man with an SKS with a scope gets within shooting range of the former president and goes undetected for 12 hours that is a failure no matter what you call it.
It was a good job by one agent, who was put in a life threatening situation because someone failed to check the perimeter or did a poor job of it.

They have protected Trump while he golfed there before and that is a known spot where paparazzi often hide to get pictures of Trump.
There's no excuse for it not being checked. It's incompetence, negligence, indifference or an inside job.

I don't do what the liberal Democrats tell me to. I'm not doing USSS PR. I just don't think this situation represents failure in the same way you seem to. (Butler, PA -- that was *definitely* a failure.) This seems to be nothing more that the USSS detecting a live threat on the moving edge of their protection parameter. They deal with moving protection zones all the time.

That's not what I meant at all and typical of the vitriol coming from the left. I guess Trump arranged to have someone shoot his ear and be shot dead.

It seems this latest assasination is starting look a bit more suspicious. Rough appears to have had connnections to the CIA on some of his social media accounts. As well as some contact with Iran. There are way too many unanswered questions on both attempts on Trumps life.
