  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"Luther had a truth; it was the present truth of the age he lived in."

The things Luther believed and taught went against every "truth" of the age he lived in.

"Luther heard the Spirit of Truth and walked in what was revealed in Him. Today we have thousands of Lutherans believing a truth; but not progressing spiritually beyond that truth that died with Luther."

Your completely uninformed opinion carries no weight with this Lutheran. One thing Lutherans typically abhor, is change. You'd have a point if you were referring to the ELCA, but in their case they're moving away from the truth of the word of God and pursuing their own version of what is true. Which, now that I think about it is, what you seem to do. Tell me Ben, which church was it that screwed you over so royally to put you into this kind of mindset? The mindset where all the churches are carnal, all the religious people are wrong, centuries upon centuries of teaching and doctrine are false if they disagree with your pre-conceived notions and bias and only YOU possess the truth.

"That is why there are so many religions’ some one allows God to reveal something new and fresh; so they build another denomination etc."

Another denomination does not equal another religion altogether. New denominations are formed for a variety of reasons. Usually they grow out of disagreements over secondary, non-essential issues.
Try the seven churches in Revelations; they pretty much discribe all chruches in the world today; as well as through out all ages. You can beleive what ever you want; I believe there is a true Church; (Gk) ekklicia notice what this awesome word means "called out". God is calling out a people out of religion; out of Baby lon, out of the world. This is the Church with out spot or wrinkle. Do you know where this church is; it is with in me and it is with in you.

Yes Luther's truth was totally against the truth the age he was in; I will say the same about Jesus.

"Try the seven churches in Revelations; they pretty much discribe all chruches in the world today;"

Why would I try those? It's not those that you rail against on a daily basis as being wrong. Lemme guess, the churches in Revelation are not actual churches in that time period, but are merely symbols, that represent the church as it exists today.

"You can beleive what ever you want;"

I believe the word of God, you on the other hand, do believe whatever you want and try to pass it off as truth.

"I believe there is a true Church; (Gk) ekklicia notice what this awesome word means "called out". God is calling out a people out of religion; out of Baby lon, out of the world."

It's spelled Babylon. You make yourself look foolish when you spell it the way you've been spelling it. I believe God calls His church out of the world, not necessarily out of any particular religion that you personally don't like for whatever reason.

"This is the Church with out spot or wrinkle. Do you know where this church is; it is with in me and it is with in you."

No kidding? I thought it was down the street. LOL

Please give sciptural refernce and explain what it means to you?
..."And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever." (Revelation 20:10)
..."And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire" (Revelation 20:14-15)
..."But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone." (Revelation 21:8) whatever one may think Hell is, we know for certainty of it's 'destiny', and of those that 'goeth thereby'.

...if there is no 'Hell', why does God go to all the trouble to cast it and 'Death' into the Lake of Fire? and not only 'Death & Hell', but also all those who took part in the Second Resurrection.
The words "GRAVE and "PIT" and others were replaced with the word "HELL." After the final judgement when God creates all things new, "DEATH and the GRAVE" will be done away with. So then, if our reward is immortality; then the punnished are dead. In regards the the words "Lake of Fire." That is talking about all that imbodies the judgement. Lake = imbodyment / Fire = judgement.

Jesus said Heaven is within us. When Elijah was taken to Heaven He ended up “on” Elisha.

2 Kings 2:
11 As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.
15 The company of the prophets from Jericho, who were watching, said, "The spirit of Elijah is resting on Elisha." And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him.

And it is all around us.

Ephesians 4:10 He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.)

Acts 17:28 'For in him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.'

In my understanding, the true Church and Heaven are of the Spirit that is in us and all around us. I know the subject of this thread is about Hell but since you brought up the Church subject Ben, I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing your insights into the difference between the Church and Heaven or are they the same thing?

What a twist without any authority whatsoever. I hope this twist is not to your own destruction. More than that I hope it is not to anyone else's!

No need for your name to be in the Lambs book of life sooner or later you will get there anyway?

You are pushing a great deception!
Shall we believe there is no hell just like the fruit of the tree would not bring death to Adam and Eve?

The Father of Lies is at it again! Caution saints of God!!

If you would take the time to study your bible, you would see that I have said nothing out of line with scripture. Do you know what it means to be selfrightous, if not, look it up. It may help you from saying something stupid. And study your bible. A christian should think before they speak. It helps keep you from getting foot-n-mouth disease.

This a very interesting post and point that goes along with the lake of fire being spiritual, when my eyes were opened to this i realized and have been studying the book of revelation and the symbolic and spiritual meanings, and yes, it has brought more realization of the fact that we are in the spiritual realm[1st heaven realm now] and we have authority in it, i am enjoying Ben's teachings immensley, but it is so against the church' traditional teachings, but it all makes so much more sense now, and the fact that everyone is going to make it is very refreshing, me, being a budding preacher/teacher of the word, my aim is to let my hearers know the motivation to serve God is to love Him,and He gives abundant life and rewards in this life and the life to come, instead of, if you don't get saved you're gonna burn. Praise God!

Hell (Hades), the underworld is real.
I have Christians tell me that angels are mystical magical beings, with supernatural powers. I even have them tell me that the parabols should be taken literally. I met a man at a coffee shop who is a 33% Mason. He was reading the astrology page, and I said to him, dont you know that it was Abraham that gave astrological signs for prophecy, And that is why astrology is called Abrahams sin. (Although Abraham did not believe in astrology.) And that man said to me: Michael, you do not understand, astrology is a real science. Ill tell you what I do know, and that is, there is a difference between what is real and what is imagened. Abraham was talking from the point of view of Astronomy, not Astrology. And God never said to Eve that she could'nt examine (Touch) that fruit. What God did say was, that she was not to (eat) make it a part of her. And so, if you make sin a part of your life, then you will surly die. Parabol or literal, translation or interpretation, real or imagened. These things call for a spirit of discernment.

And what can be said for the discernment being seen here? We see scripture that says words for lake of fire or hell, and passages referring to people's ruin and it being better to enter heaven with limbs cut off than hell with all of them intact. How can that be interpreted or discerned into saying there's a universal reconciliation? I've seen those who support an idea like that get railed for that, but in all fairness it seems like you're misinterpreting the meaning of all when you references the phrases that supposedly speak for all mankind, when it's made quite clear not everyone will be saved because not all have faith.

Romans 1 NIV

18-31:
"18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. 21For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. "

Romans 2 NIV

"1You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 2Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment? 4Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?
5But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. 6God "will give to each person according to what he has done."[a] 7To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. 8But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. 9There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; 10but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 11For God does not show favoritism.
12All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. 13For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. 14(Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, 15since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.) 16This will take place on the day when God will judge men's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares."

So we have no excuse to say even though God is loving and merciful he wouldn't ever do such a thing as condemn someone eternally, where it's clear he has in store wrath and anger and judgment for the sinner. Do you not know the price of inequity? Do you not know the wage of sin is death? Do you not know the only atonement is Christ? If hell is indeed Gehenna, or a trash heap, would God send away the ragged and wretched to a burning fire suited for garbage? If you send your filth to a landfill for a week, does it come back as gold? Of course not, it is still garbage and even filthier! This is such the nature of a sinner. Their unrepentant sin is their filth, a stain and blackness that God cannot tolerate, and such it is tossed away with those who carry it. And being higher beings than garbage, than how much worse the punishment! Sentient minds committing atrocities full aware of the warning given but ignoring because they believe in another so called god, or disbelief in one all together, when they had Christ to forgive them? There is no excuse, there is no escape. God's punishment will be just, and it will be eternal. There is no side stepping this issue. If you think otherwise, you are mistaken. If you say otherwise, you are misleading.

Romans 3 NIV

"21But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement,[i] through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
27Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of observing the law? No, but on that of faith. 28For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law. 29Is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, 30since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. 31Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law."

Only by Faith are we saved. No one can earn it, no one can be so glorious to attain salvation of their own works for we are all sinners by birth, all deserving destruction for our inequity. So stop misguiding yourself and others to the conclusion that Hell is not eternal or the grave or whatever you want to call it. Stop selling the message short. We are all born in peril. We are all born in danger of eternal damnation by our sins. So therefore, the news that we can be spared this fate, it is your duty to warn those who you can of Christ's sacrifice, acceptance of him through Faith to spare others of that so we can reconcile with the dear Lord above who loves us so to do such a thing! For even though he loves us, he must still uphold the laws he has set down if he is to truly be just! Do not think he cannot be both a judge and a loving father! Believe or do not believe, but do not spread false gospel!

Hell is both real, and furthermore, it is justified by God himself! You cannot speak of things pertaining to the hereafter without including God into the equation. It is not a place set aside by man for men, or a thing invented in translation, it is a place to come, a fate yet to be assigned. The Final Judgment when death and the grave are handed into the lake of fire to come, that is the fate of both the unrepentant and the devil and his angels. They were deceived by the devil, rejected truth in Christ, and will be judged accordingly for their trespasses. So warn people of this danger, bring them forth Christ, help them be freed from their sins and bondage and let them to rejoice in the Lord instead of sitting contently, dreaming that hell will only purge them of their sin, for it is not so.

if there's no hell, then Jesus Himself LIED to us.
Amen sister!

No need for your name to be in the Lambs book of life sooner or later you will get there anyway?

There are those who are pushing a great deception!
Shall we believe there is no hell just like partaking of the fruit of the tree would not bring death to Adam and Eve?

The Father of Lies is at it again! Caution saints of God!!

Hebrews 5:8 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.
9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,

Eternal salvation is for those who obey Him. What is being pushed on this tread that sooner later you end up saved and with Jesus anyways, is a slap in the face to this word in Hebrews!

I know there are those who think the can take bits and pieces of scripture to prove that eventually all men will be saved. Yet if you leave it in context with all the scriptural teaching like Hebrew 5:9 those who will be saved are those who come into the obedience of Christ!

When the conclusion you draw make other verses make no sense, you need to let the Word change your conclusions.

If we all end up in the same place rather wicked or righteous the following verse would have no meaning.
1 Corinthians 15:30 And why do we stand in jeopardy every hour?
31 I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
32 If, in the manner of men, I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage is it to me? If the dead do not rise, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!"
33 Do not be deceived: "Evil company corrupts good habits."
34 Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.

No need to worry about the sheep being separated from the goats. What you are and whatever you do, you end up in the same place. THIS IS FOOLISHNESS. This not sound doctrine! We were warned there would be many false teaching and this is one of them!

Jesus is not a liar. It would be better to enter heaven maimed than to go to the place where the worm dies not and the fire is not quenched. Jesus is not a liar when he spoke of a place where there was flame that consumed not and the man was in torment. Jesus is not the author of fables! This is not a parable!

Parables were always based in earthly truths that the people understood with a spiritual application. This does not qualify for a parable in this account. Second there is no parable that actually name a man by name. Jesus did not just make up some man's name for illustration purpose! Check all the parables it is not there!

It is a lie to say no obediece is required in the end you still end up with God!

That is the same lie the devil deceived Eve with! Don't obey God you will not die!

Careful saint the master of all lies is hard at work trying to deceive you into believing there is not hell and even obedience is not required in the end you will still live with God forever!

All liars shall go into the lake of fire! Eternal separation from God!

To further your statement... WHY WOULD CHRIST BOTHER TO COME HERE IF THERE WASN'T SOMETHING HORRIFIC THAT HE WAS TRYING TO SAVE US FROM???

There's actually no point in BEING saved if we aren't saved FROM something seriously drastic? Would God even bother going to such great lengths to reach down to us if there's NOTHING wrong & we'll all get there anyways?

It defies salvation itself - it's useless and meaningless if there weren't something we're saved FROM.
Think about it folks. God doesn't do stupid, meaningless things for no reason - that was a HUGE act He took upon Himself to come here and fulfill all the scriptures that prophecy of Him and SUFFER for absolutely nothing?

HELL EXISTS - and it ends up thrown into the lake of fire eternally ... where Satan & his false prophet are.

Yes, hell exists, but Jesus did not come to save us from hell. The scriptures say He saved us from SIN and DEATH. Can you show one scripture that shows otherwise?

What could be more horrible to God than to be separated from His creation whom He enjoyed fellowship with in the garden.. because of sin.

It is sin resulting in the death of man that is the most offensive to Him. It is the FLESH of man that is offensive and that He hates the most.

Besides that 'hell' is only the holding area for the dead, until the judgment. If you are going to fear something, then fear God and His judgments.

Nowhere in the scriptures onward from the gospels is hell and damnation preached. Look at Stephen's sermon in Acts, he did NOT talk of hell or damnation. When Paul preached there was no mention of hell and damnation. Where does this terrible damnable teaching come from?

in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power..."

The mention of hell is all over the place - including in parables and warnings given - the same concept. Why give ANY warning about anything in the afterlife if nothing exists that could harm us?
The entire Bible teaches reward for righteousness, and judgment/punishment for unrighteousness.

People simply REFUSE to let GOD tell us His truth - they'de rather remake and redefine the bible to suit their opinions and human wisdom.
As if God has to fit our definitions. We're to mold to HIS definitions, not make up what they should be and force GOD to fit within it.
