  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There is HOPE for you

No, its not up for debate. There is nothing in the Bible that says cutting your hair is a sin within itself. In fact, the Bible is of no personal interpretation, 2 Peter 1:20.

What it does say is not to have the appearance of evil, 1 Th 5:22. In the culture about 2000 years ago the harlots shaved their heads and cut their hair - so the church teaching therefore, because of the culture, was to grow their hair long so they wouldn't be labeled a harlot who worshipped pagan gods.

Some people would rather believe what their church institution says versus what the Bible actually says.

Actually, yes it is.

There is nothing in the Bible that says cutting your hair is a sin within itself.
And there is nothing in my post that says I was mentioning the Bible.

What it does say is not to have the appearance of evil
In one chapter physical appearance matters, and yet in another it doesn't. If the spirit is the true thing that matters, then the line should be drawn between having the appearance of evil and being truly evil.

so they wouldn't be labeled a harlot who worshipped pagan gods.
You're implying that Pagan's are evil.
You're also implying that a harlot is evil.

There seems to be a big difference between a sin and something that is immoral. I fail to see how worshiping a Pagan God is evil, or being highly sexually active is evil. If you have the appearance of a harlot or a Pagan, that does not mean you have the appearance of evil. It appears your God likes to label everything he dislikes as a "sin". Regardless if it is truly immoral or not. He enforces his subjective view point on morality on us all and defies all opposition to it.

Some people would rather believe what their church institution says versus what the Bible actually says.
The Bible is written by Humans, and those of low intelligence at that. There is nothing trustworthy of what the Bible says. There are many contradictions and inconsistencies.

The Bible is not the accurate word of your God, nor is it an accurate source of what your God desires of you, because it is not written by your God.

Edit

I am also terribly sorry for obviously breaking the rule of not debating in the Outreach forum. I shall refrain from this in the future and ensure I properly follow and remember any and all forum rules. For now I believe this post will most likely soon be deleted / moved by a moderator within a couple of hours.
