  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And Bianca, Im not trying to scare them....but if that does scare them that says something....it doesnt matter because its the truth...why do people want to hide from truth so much....there is a God shaped whole in all of us...and people try to fill it with sex, drugs, alcohol..etc...when all the while its never full because they are not seeking God...
people have different worldviews, even christians, even from the same denomination are incredibly different from each other.
now, why do you assume that your literalist and conservative opinion has to be the truth for everybody. is not up to you to judge.
my advice would be to lead your life and your marriage following your beliefs and i really hope you will be happy and fulfilled, but why do you want others to live like you, if they would be unhappy that way?

Well it didnt hurt my husband and I when we were dating. We were innocent of it.

You may have been innocent of it, but how do you know that he wasn't picturing you in a leather corset?

You can curl up on the couch w/o thinking about something sexual...and just enjoying each other and listen to each other talking....why is it always sexual w/ you people!

Because we are sexual beings. We have the urges, and while we can choose not to follow those urges, it's both foolish and self-destructive to pretend they don't exist. Repressed feelings have a nasty habit of coming out -- somewhere.

You have an absolute right to decide when and under what circumstances you wish to have sex, and you can feel free to justify that decision for yourself as you see fit.

You can choose not to have sex until you're married, because you choose to follow a religion which asks this of you as a sign of faith -- Good for you, I say.

You can choose not to have sex until the troops come home from Iraq, because you choose this as some sort of anti war protest. Again, have fun with that.

You can choose not to have sex until the Mets win the World Series, because you're just that much of a baseball fan. And I say good luck with that.

In matters of sex and sexuality, I say that a responsible adult has the right to impose any restriction as to who, when, where, how, or why, upon themselves -- and only upon themselves.

Myself, I'm in an intimate, loving relationship with someone who understands and accepts that I'm simply not the marrying type -- but that hasn't stopped us from growing closer, physically and emotionally. And I'm certainly not goingto let anyone else stop us by imposing their own arbitrary restrictions upon me.

And yes, I already know what she looks like in a leather corset. ;)

I personally don't hold any reverence for Hef and I think he's in the same category of anyone who's made their success out of promoting something which society calls right, but that God clearly states is wrong.

... top quality short fiction is wrong?

In my own personal opinion and one that is separated from christianity, I just do not like knowing that my boyfriend is off looking at other naked women.
I feel that both my and my boyfriend's eyes should only be for each other.

And you know what? I do not think that is such a bad idea! ;)

And could someone please explain to me the disadvantages to the described loyalty that my boyfriend and I have for each other?

I fail to see how pornographic descriptions qualify as "top quality short fiction." Perhaps you should expand your literary horizons.

Playboy does not publish trash erotica. Actually it rarely even publishes good erotica. It does, however, publish short fiction from prominent authors. Ray Bradbury and E.L. Doctorow have published there.

Playboy is one of the few magazines of that nature that actually publishes true fiction stories. They generally dont publish sleazy porn stories but REAL works of fiction by REAL authors and usually by some very prominent authors. I remember seeing one that had a big collection of Robert Frost poetry

How is the separate from Christianity? It sounds like it's perfectly in tune with Christianity.

Do you know what's better than true fiction stories?

Fake non-fiction stories.

Are we talking about short stories of a sexual nature here?

Anyway, I think you can find a much better collection of short stories in say - a library - than you can in Playboy magazine.

I've read them, so they do. Wait, are you now claiming that Playboy isn't an adult magazine with erotic content? If not, what is the point of this tangent?

You have read a published short story of pornographic content in Playboy? Which issue?
