It's because he is very obstinate in his position. It's one thing to believe that our position is not correct. I have no problem with that.

What I do have a problem with is that he seems to believe that we *know* that we have no support and no valid position, yet are arguing anyway just to be difficult and for the sake of argument. Nothing could be further from the truth.

He needs to learn the difference between "I don't agree with this position", and "this position doesn't even exist at all".

He's sort of like a LouisBooth who writes longer posts. Anyone who disagrees with his position is just flat out wrong, and has no place even questioning the obvious and clear interpretation of the Bible.

Lynn, I hope you REPORTED that thread. If you'd tell me which forum, what post, I'd trash it gladly. I come from a long, honorable line of military, and I'd be angry, too. And I mean LIFERS, too!

Of course, that particular post is a lullaby compared to what I've spent the last ten minutes tracking down and trashing. You can tell the kiddies are out of school for Christmas Vacation! Junior-High mentality: associating Jesus with P-o-r-n.

Gimme a couple of ice blocks...I wanna just lie down and nap for a while.

Peace,

I didn't report it. http://www.christianforums.com/threads/30148.html

very frustrating and insulting. I wasn't sure though if it was something reportable.
I just can't believe that people can be that insulting to those who are trying their best to serve their country and their fellow citizens.

wait a minute----Jesus=p-o-r-n? how do that compute?

Unbelievable. My frustration level is reaching its limit. My son had his wisdom teeth pulled this morning, another son is sick and whiny, my dad has Alzheimer's and now has emphesyma and pneumonia. He smokes 4 packs a day and his now on oxygen. My mom won't even consider a nursing home for him. the people at work are acting like nitwits. my christmas tree isn't even up yet and I've got a million christmas presents to buy!!!! plus the weather just turned yucky and I've got two potlucks and a christmas eve party to shop for.

HHHHEEEELLLLLPPPPP!!!!!!

To Lynn:

I think every vet on the board went in and kicked tail.

I LOVED the bit that a military court martial won't find any military person guilty. I'm still laughing over that one. When you are charged and brought before a court martial, you are ASSUMED GUILTY. YOU have the task of proving otherwise.

People in uniform will die to defend the Constitution of the United States, but while they are IN that uniform they have no Constitutional rights.

I went into the Air Force when I was 19 years old. At the time, it was VERY unusual for a woman to join the service and it was VERY unpopular for anyone to join (Vietnam Era). But I was proud of myself. I did something that not too many women did. I served proudly and would do it again. Not only did I get the satisfaction of knowing I was serving my country but...I also met and married my husband and had our first son :D

All in all it was a good experience and one I wish more people would have.

ARRRGH!!!

I should just put Shane on ignore. I should not let him get to me so much. But his posts are so **** aggravating to me -- none of the anti-Catholics that have traipsed through here have angered me as much as his posts do. I wish Paul had never written 1 Timothy so that he could stop attacking me with those verses -- I do *not* like being accused of debating for the sole purpose of causing strife among Christians, and I'm not sure he realizes how serious an accusation that is.

I know. What particularly bugs me is the *context* - he's using the verse that, so far as I can tell, God put there so that abolitionists would face some harrowing for their beliefs, so they wouldn't just sign up because it was easy.

Speaking of context, would anyone here care to comment on the assertion that every Christian who ever thought slavery was acceptable was *ignoring* the Bible, not merely misunderstanding it?

I am going nuts here. I sincerely believe that it is possible for people to be mistaken in matters like this. Indeed, it bothers me a lot that there is some historical evidence of a greater level of Catholic toleration of slavery than I am comfortable with... But we're Christians. We screw up, we repent, we make amends as best we can, and we move on. We don't let fear of having been wrong keep us from confronting our sins, do we?

/me looks up suddenly as melting ice crashes down on him, evaporating into steam.

I am going to go buy some eggs from the local corner store. Maybe when I get back I'll be better.

Huh.

I just realized. If God would just make the Rapture an annual thing where everyone who believes in the Rapture is taken away, and everyone who is enjoying life as is gets to stick around and work on it here, facing eternal judgement at the end of a normal lifespan, that would be *SO* cool.

Well, GOSH, I sure am glad you guys aren't *real* Catholics, who would have me beheaded or burned at the stake for doubting Catholic doctrine.

Y'know, it's a good thing there isn't a keyboard equivalent for "report this post", 'cuz that key would have worn out by now.

SHEESH!
