I'm truly stunned that he hasn't been banned yet. He's either painfully stupid, or dishonest - possibly both.

Well, you can tell that he's supressing what he really wants to say about Catholics (although it came out a few times, like when he accused VOW of not knowing scripture and corrupting it to fit tradition), but I think he is trying to keep within the rules of the board. He's not doing a very good job, though. I find his posts more laughable than insulting -- he doesn't really seem to even know what he's posting or what the responses mean, just keeps repeating the same stuff over and over and over...

I may have crossed a line with this post, but since it's in the freezer I hope I can get some leeway to vent. He really is frustrating.

Well, I think there's ample support for your claims. He seems to really be out to hurt Catholics, and/or the RCC. I'm assuming he has some bone to pick...

Actually, no. Most likely, he's attacking the Catholic tradition of getting truth from people, not just from the Bible, and he's attacking it because his pastor told him it was bad.

Hmmm....this is the first time I've logged on since early Saturday morning, and then only because I couldn't sleep...was out most of the day Saturday.

I guess I'll have to mosey over and see what mischief LH has been up to, eh?

*sigh* Wish me luck....

Dear me. Replete with references from the Skeptic's Encyclopedia, or whatever it was he was quoting from.

It's apparent, VOW, that you and I must have rattled his cage, or else he wouldn't be singling the two of us out for his loving kindnesses.

Must be we represent a serious challenge to his thinking, or he wouldn't be working so hard, and getting so angry, in trying to disprove us. Let alone providing cites from the sources he's using.

I sense another individual with an anti-Catholic pathology, one who has a compulsion to debunk Rome, at all costs. I went into an analysis of this over at Ruptured Ready once; it seems to be a sort of variant on the obsessive-compulsive disorder, in which the mere mention of anything Catholic causes the individual to become quite agitated, and to immediately start issuing rebuttals to all manner of Catholic teachings. If he is backed into a corner by knowledgeable Catholics, he can become violent and nasty, as did our friend here.

I'm not sure that we have a case here quite as advanced as some of the Ruptured Ready denizens; they have a true disorder. Anti-Catholicism constitutes a major part of their psychological makeup, and represents a form of stability and reassurance to them.....take that away, and they get seriously vicious, because that is their lifeline to all that is right with the world. LH isn't quite that far over the edge, but there seems to be little doubt that he does have a serious problem.

It bears close watching.

And you know what? I'm a Reformer/Calvinist, and I've never had a Catholic bash me. If anyone tries to take me down, it's either a fundamentalist telling me I "worship Calvin" and "use a false Bible", a nondenominational accusing me of "not reading the Bible for myself", or a pseudo-Christian sect telling me I'm going to Hell.
(Where's edpobre when you need him??? )

To Joe:

When I was searching for a faith, it was my discovery that the Catholics were the least-bashing bunch of all. Most of the Protestant Churches were of the "if you don't go to OUR Church, you're going to Hell" mindset.

To Catholics, you are our Brother in Christ. We don't need to kick your butt to prove our love of God.

Peace,
~VOW

VOW, I need some lessons on how to use these ice blocks and such without hurting myself.

I recommend boxing practice gloves. My wife has a punching bag, and she got me a pair of practice gloves. You can hit *way* harder with these on!

I would never have believed that my hands, which are almost too fragile for typing, could take a blow hard enough to rattle the chains holding up a hundred pound bag.

((((Hugs)))) ~~~~~Peace~~~~~ and warm chocolate chip cookies to you all. I haven't been there in so long, and I don't know when I'll be back. I'll stay here, though, to lend a broad shoulder, open heart, listening ears, yummy treats, warm or cold drinks.... whatever balm my friends need to soothe their spirits.

Hmm. VOW was talking about hash browns... You're talking about Carmel Dilly bars. I am wondering if these are the same objects, 'cuz if so, one of you is gonna be very disappointed.
