It's part of the "You will own nothing and be happy" trend that has been expanding in tech since a few years. They make you create an account so they can send subscriptions offers later. In a similar vein, I hate how many devices require to download an app to the phone, even though they should be able to working without it (but they won't). And how many restaurant and other services now require the use QR codes to place orders, and doing so they get your phone number to send you their spam.I hate how multiple websites are blocking information and demanding that you log in. It's just another step towards the Digital ID.
But for extra my serious vent: I hate hate hate how many apps and games require an internet connection, even if there is no purpose for the user. Classic example now: single-player games that won't work unless connected to the internet. WHY do I have to be connected to the internet to play a single-player game that I paid for?
